The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of Women in Environment is excited to host our first Professional Development event of the year at Mission High School on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Come join us for a lively conversation with our panelists who will discuss the unique opportunities & challenges for offshore wind development in California. We are pleased to offer this event as part of the SF Climate Week program, & we welcome community members & visitors to come learn more about our organization & network with industry leaders across the environmental field. Heavy hordourves & drinks will be provided.nMeet your panelists:nVida Strong, Environmental Compliance Manager at Aspen Environmental GroupnMs. Strong has extensive experience in environmental engineering & project management, with an emphasis in the application of CEQA & NEPA in analysis, permitting, & resultant mitigation monitoring of controversial development projects. Ms. Strong is the Deputy Program Manager for the preparation of the Environmental Impact Report & Environmental Impact Statement for the CADEMO Offshore Wind Energy Demonstration Project, Californias first floating offshore wind project off the coast of Vandenburg Space Force Base, Santa Barbara County (starting soon).nAspen Ellis, Seabird Ecologist & Doctoral Student at U.C. Santa CruznMs. Ellis is a Ph.D. student & NOAA Nancy Foster Scholar in the Conservation Action Lab in the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Department at the University of California Santa Cruz with a designated emphasis in Coastal Science & Policy. Her current research is focused on approaches to assess & mitigate the impacts of offshore wind energy development to marine bird populations.nRebecca Neill, Marine Geoscientist at RWEnMs. Neill is a geoscientist with over six years of experience integrating geophysical, geological, geochemical, & geotechnical data for exploration, site characterization & geohazard assessments of marine infrastructure & offshore wind development.nModerator:nMelinda Schulze, Senior Environmental Planner at Burns & McDonnellnMs. Schulze is an experienced Senior Environmental Planner with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental industry.nBy registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of SF Climate Week.
