Mission Statement:
Our group is wholly committed to connecting data-driven women in San Francisco! DDW was developed as a home for inspiring Bay Area women who impact every aspect of the data that makes our world run & our industry thrive. We know talking about data can be intimidating, but the members of our group make data, approachable & our events fun.
Our Event Host:
Sonder is next-generation hospitality company with thousands of beautiful spaces in cities around the world. We aim to redefine the hospitality industry through unique design & modern service. Whether you stay in one of our apartments or hotels for two days, two months or two years, Sonder ensures a unique, yet consistent experience.
At its core, Sonders mission is to celebrate the infinite diversity & beauty of the world. Were committed to helping guests, employees & partners discover that which makes each culture & destination special, unique & always worth exploring.
Featured Speakers:
Deeksha Hebbar - VP of Operations - Deeksha is the VP of Operations at Sonder, where she leads all central operations teams including supply chain, interior design, hospitality, & guest experience. She started at Sonder in 2017 as a Regional General Manager before moving into her current role. Prior to Sonder, she spent several years at Luxe (on demand parking & valet service acquired by Volvo) in several roles, including VP of Business. She also spent several years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company (technology/media practice) & as a product marketer at Google. She holds a B.S. in Economics & B.S.E in Engineering from Wharton & the School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania & an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Padmini Pyapali - Padmini Pyapali is an Engineering Manager at Sonder, building the future of hospitality & working with a talented, fast growing team. Her love for working with product & operations started with her prior role as an engineer & technical leader at Uber, where she helped build multiple products like Uber Eats & Uber Freight.
Kate Brennan - Head of Product, Guest Experiences - Kate Brennan, Head of Product for Sonder Guest Experiences, has spent more than 18 years analyzing, investing in & building tech companies. Prior to Sonder she held product leadership roles at Square & SurveyMonkey, & started her career at JPMorgan. Kate received her MBA from Stanford & a degree in Finance from the University of Iowa. She lives in Oakland with her family.
Kristin Sapelak - Business Intelligence Engineer - Kristin Sapelak is one of the first Business Intelligence Engineers at Sonder. She began her career in civil service, analyzing financial statements, & eventually learned how to code in SQL in order to dig deeper into her analyses. This fed her desire to learn more about data engineering & data science. She has participated in various PyLadies & Girls Who Code clubs, including teaching a Girls Who Code course this summer. Her team at Sonder is currently building a data warehouse in order to power business decisions, & provide inputs into some of Sonder's Data Science models.
Cassie Chao - Manager of Technical Recruiting
Cassie is the Technical Recruiting Manager at Sonder, overseeing the hiring process & growth of the Engineering, Product, UX Design, & Data teams at Sonder. She has 8 years of recruiting at tech companies, including during hyper-growth stages at Uber & Palantir. Her favorite pastime is traveling, so joining Sonder was a dream come true!
Katka Opocenska - Product Manager - Product Manager - Katka is a Senior Product Manager on Digital Concierge taking care of our guest facing communication & app. Prior to Sonder, Katka worked at Google as a Product Manager on Waze & as a consultant at McKinsey. She holds an MBA from Stanford & a CS degree from Charles University in Prague.
