Role Description
The Dropbox Tax team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Indirect Tax - focused on international (VAT / GST) indirect tax , reporting to the Global Indirect Tax Lead. This role will partner & collaborate seamlessly with members of the Tax, Finance, Legal & business teams to help drive & support our commercial strategy & lead global transfer pricing for Dropbox.
In this role, youll bring enthusiasm for all things Tax and thrive teaming with other smart Tax folks to drive & deliver Dropbox projects & initiatives. Youll be ready to roll up your sleeves to design & implement Tax processes, policies, best practices, & frameworks to help scale a growing Tax team & function. You are a self-starter who follows through, gets stuff done, and has a passion for VAT & all things transaction tax.
Responsibilities
- Oversee international (VAT/GST) indirect tax compliance, reporting, & filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy & timeliness
- Stay abreast of changes in VAT laws & regulations globally, assess their impact on the company, & recommend necessary actions
- Perform reporting & compliance calculations & analyses - including ASC 450 analyses
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency / transformation & drive process improvements & automation initiatives to enhance VAT compliance & efficiency
- Conduct research & tax position strategy developments
- Conduct VAT risk assessments & implement effective controls to mitigate tax risks
- Collaborate cross-functionally with tax, finance, legal, product / tech & other departments to integrate indirect tax considerations into business processes & transactions
- Lead, mentor, & challenge high-performing indirect tax team
- Plan for the growth of our indirect tax systems, including our tax engines, working closely with our enterprise wide technology teams to develop & transform tax systems, processes, & and reporting strategies
Requirements
- VAT / GST experience with progressively increasing responsibilities & accountability
- Big Four Public Accounting or Law Firm experience combined with in-house tech company tax accounting experience
- People Management experience
- Experience working on & implementing indirect tax policies, best practices, tools, strategies at scale
- Analytical experience with research and quantitative analysis skills
- Excellent communication skills, strong Excel skills & a self-starter who is able to manage projects independently & proactively
- Exceptional prioritization, project management, & organizational skills including an ability to synthesize complex tax matters into simple, concise communications
- BA in Finance, Accounting, Business, or equivalent
- Advanced degree (MBA, JD, MST, Ph.D.) preferred
- Professional certifications (CPA or similar certification) preferred
- Ability to thrive in a Virtual First environment as well as with in-person collaboration
