About the job

This position is needed to help Twilo develop & deliver new capabilities in the Twilio Flex platform. You will be a member of a scrum team who will design, implement, own & operate their microservices end to end in the cloud. You will play a key role in setting up & building out the Flex engineering capacity & capability in the Bengauluru office & build a center of excellence for Flex business unit. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to influence roadmap priorities, propose innovative solutions that will enable Twilio to achieve its goal of being the worlds most trusted customer engagement platform.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, test & deploy Flex features & services in AWS cloud.
  • Own your services, respond to incidents & participate in on-call rotation & participate in RCAs for incidents.
  • Meet SLA/SLO/SLI for your services.
  • Meet Definition of Done for the software you build.
  • Refactor & reduce technical debt in your services.
  • Write automated unit & integration tests in a continuous integration & delivery environment.
  • Manage your work through the use of Github, Jira, & Twilios build/deploy systems.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including Product leadership, influence, own, & improve Flex platform.
  • Actively participate in Design, Code review, Backlog grooming, Agile ceremonies & work with team members to meet teams sprint commitments.
  • Work independently or with your team to troubleshoot/determine resolution for issues in your team's domain.
  • Be responsible for documentation of projects you work on.
  • Rapidly acquire new technical skills & knowledge in a fast-paced, highly disruptive industry environment.

Required:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related industry experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience developing highly-available, secure, native cloud enterprise SaaS web applications in Java, JavaScript, React, Angular, HTML.
  • Experience with Micro Frontend architecture & implementation.
  • Experience with browser APIs (REST, GraphQL, GRPC, & Protobuf) & optimizing front end performance.
  • Experience with plug-in architectures in client-side applications.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP or other public cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience building highly scalable, real time, distributed systems based on microservices architecture.
  • Experience with container technologies - Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Experience with REST API design & implementation.
  • Experience implementing modern automated testing & CI/CD pipelines.
  • Translate system designs into software implementations.
  • Champion of good engineering habits: development & test techniques, security, automation.
  • Expertise in solving complex production issues.
  • Positive attitude & aptitude to learn & execute quickly in a small team. 
  • Iterative development & deployment, Scrum & Agile methodologies.
  • Communicate clearly & concisely, orally & in writing.

Desired:

  • Experience with Java & microservices.
  • Deploying cloud applications in a multi region environment.
  • Ability to influence & build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Contact Center & Customer Engagement solutions.

Location

This role will be remote India. Approximately 5% travel is anticipated.
