The role

As a Staff Engineer in our Supply Chain Management organization, you will be responsible for defining, securing, & implementing technical solutions for business problems. You will look after speeding up development, decision-making, & problem-solving. You will work with our neighboring teams to ensure that our efforts aim to achieve a clearer architecture & boundaries between tech teams to support autonomy. You will communicate directly with our business stakeholders & multiple tech teams supporting local markets. You will report to the Director of Engineering in the Production tribe. This role does not include people management responsibilities.

What youll do

• Assume technical leadership within a tribe & own the most challenging tech decisions, including architecture, design, development, deployment, & operational excellence.
• Support the teams in the architectural design & help to maintain architectural integrity in the scope of the tribe & beyond.
• Spend a significant portion of your time writing code based on organization needs. 
• Solve software problems that have visible risks, roadblocks, & constraints. Examples might include legacy dependencies, data quality, compliance, & architecture or technology limitations.
• Mentor more junior engineers by fostering a culture of continuous learning & growth. 

What youll bring 

• Ideally, 10+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in a staff/principal level capacity & technical leadership.
• Strong capability in working with different stakeholders & experience addressing physical world problems with software solutions.
• Solid problem-solving skills & a deep understanding of a couple of programming languages. Experience with backend technologies with a focus on C#. Python & Golang experience would be a plus.
• Experience with data engineering fundamentals is highly desirable, including expertise in data modeling, governance, quality assurance, & proficiency in data processing & storage systems.
• Expertise in designing & implementing modular systems, including proficiency in synchronous/asynchronous communication.
• A team player attitude & a passion for helping others grow through peer-to-peer mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions, & advocating for best engineering practices, such as CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DDD, & Design Patterns.
• An agile mindset with the ability to advocate for cross-functional collaboration.
