THE ROLE

As a Lead WordPress Developer at MPOWER, you'll be leading the charge in crafting cutting-edge WordPress websites, collaborating on seamless implementations, & optimizing for superior SEO performance. Your expertise will be pivotal in customizing & extending WordPress functionality, ensuring our projects not only meet but exceed specified requirements within our agile, fast-paced, execution-driven tech team. We're seeking a strategic contributor who will build best in class web experiences, with accessibility & best practices in mind. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Leading the development of WordPress websites, encompassing theme & plugin development, customization, & optimization for SEO
• Collaborating with designers & front-end developers to translate designs into pixel-perfect implementations, user interfaces, & SEO-compliant structures
• Customizing & extending WordPress functionality to align with project requirements, specifications, & SEO goals
• Ensuring WordPress websites adhere to optimal performance, speed, & SEO best practices, including thorough keyword research, metadata optimization, & content refinement
• Troubleshooting & resolving SEO-related issues, conducting code reviews, & providing technical guidance & support to junior developers

THE QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of WordPress development, showcasing a portfolio with custom WordPress websites & SEO-focused projects
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, & MySQL
• Expert in WordPress theme & plugin development, customization, & SEO optimization
• Strong grasp of responsive design, mobile-first development, & SEO best practices
• Knowledgeable in on-page & off-page SEO techniques, including keyword research, metadata optimization, & content refinement
• Experience with version control systems, especially Git, is a plus
• WordPress certification or relevant training is advantageous
• Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, & ability to work well both independently & in a team environment
