What you will do

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives on building commercial products & plays a key role in delivering reliable, scalable, & maintainable applications. You will lead projects from start to finish, collaborating with Product Managers, & UX Designers to define requirements, implement solutions, & ensure ongoing success post-deployment. Youll focus on simplicity while contributing technical insights to enhance the system's performance, stability, & user experience.

• Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle, from design & development to deployment & maintenance.
• Follow clean code principles, using best practices to write secure, testable, & well-documented software.
• Work closely with a global team, including engineers, product managers, & UX designers, to build a stable, high-performance platform.
• Implement comprehensive testing & performance tuning to ensure system stability & uptime.

Responsibilities:

• Translate requirements, estimate effort, & address or escalate blockers as needed.
• Write clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices in readability, design patterns, reusability, & testing.
• Own end-to-end projects, understanding & contributing to all aspects (infrastructure, application tiers, & data tiers).
• Continuously monitor performance metrics & recommend improvements or refactors.

Our Tech Stack:

• Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, AWS

Technical Skills: 

• 5+ years of experience working in the Data Engineering space, & with building & maintaining big data pipelines 
• 5+ years of experience working in agile environments (ideally Scrum), collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, product).
• Proficient in Spark (Scala preferred)
• Experience designing, building, & maintaining RESTful APIs & integrating with external services.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure best practices, maintainability, & continuous improvement of the codebase.
• Ability to write & maintain unit & integration tests based on acceptance criteria, ensuring code quality & reliability.
• Proficiency with version control tools, particularly Git, for collaborative development & code management.

Nice to Have:

• Strong understanding of building scalable & high-performance back-end systems, optimizing for low-latency & high-throughput.
• Worked with a variety of data (structured/unstructured), data formats (flat files, XML, JSON, relational, parquet).
• Experience in Cyber Security

Communication & Collaboration:

• Strong attention to documentation & maintaining standards across projects.
• Ability to present & defend technical decisions with confidence.
• Skilled at estimating project complexity based on early documentation & discussions.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical challenges & solutions clearly.

The estimated total compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 (base plus bonus). Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications & experience, & may vary from the range. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation awards & equity, among other company benefits.
