We are looking for a skilled & motivated Security Analyst who is passionate about security monitoring & detection. As a Security Analyst at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to building & enhancing security monitoring capabilities. You will not only identify, analyze, & respond to security threats targeting DigitalOceans infrastructure but also play a critical role in developing & fine-tuning detection mechanisms. You will work closely with the Infrastructure Security team to bridge the gap between what we want to detect & how we do it, ensuring our alerting & monitoring systems effectively identify potential threats while reducing noise & improving overall security posture.

What Youll Be Doing:

• Performing real-time monitoring, triage, & analysis of security events across DigitalOceans environments, identifying potential threats & determining their severity.
• Leveraging industry-standard tools like Elastic SIEM, SentinelOne, & other monitoring platforms to detect, investigate, & respond to security alerts.
• Collaborating with Infrastructure Security & Threat Intelligence teams to enhance security use cases & fine-tune alerting logic for improved detection accuracy.
• Conducting proactive threat hunting, leveraging data from multiple sources to uncover hidden threats & improve our security posture.
• Maintaining & refining security monitoring tools & processes to reduce false positives & increase detection effectiveness.
• Participating in 24/7 on-call rotations, providing timely responses to critical incidents.
• Creating & documenting playbooks & response procedures to streamline future investigations & improve response consistency.
• Escalating security incidents to Senior Analyst or DFIR teams as needed for deeper analysis & remediation.
• Supporting the ongoing development of DigitalOceans security monitoring program, ensuring alignment with evolving industry best practices & threat landscapes.

What Well Expect From You:

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Elastic SIEM, SentinelOne) & endpoint detection tools.
• Strong foundational understanding of network & endpoint security, including common attack techniques & mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with operating systems like Linux, Unix, Windows, & MacOS.
• Solid analytical skills with the ability to assess complex security incidents & prioritize responses based on risk.
• Clear written & verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings & effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• A proactive mindset, eager to expand your security skills & contribute to a strong security culture.
• Basic scripting & query language skills (Python, Bash, & SQL) are a plus, along with experience in log analysis & data correlation.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative & growth-focused mindset.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new security tools, technologies, & techniques.

• We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $96,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, & skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company & individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire & the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
