About the job

This position is needed to lead the Voice & Video Insights engineering team through the development & operation of large-scale data pipelines with real-time analytics capabilities that provide deep insights into the performance of the Twilio Voice & Video products, serving a variety of personas from internal business operations to the customer.

Responsibilities

In this role, youll:

  • Build & lead a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, & ownership. 
  • Institute development best practices to ensure the team produces high quality, well-architected & supportable code.
  • Own, operate & maintain your teams service. Continuously evaluate & improve engineering processes, tools, & workflows to optimize efficiency & team performance.
  • Lead the team in establishing & participating in an on-call rotation to ensure timely response to production incidents & system outages. Facilitate collaborative & blameless postmortems for production incidents, focusing on root cause analysis, learning opportunities, & actionable improvement plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define the technical roadmap, align engineering efforts with business goals, & make informed technology decisions. 
  • Communicate effectively across all levels, both technical & non-technical, ensuring clear understanding & alignment. Build strong relationships with stakeholders & partners.
  • Write performance evaluations, collaborate with employees on their objectives & provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans.

Required:

  • A Masters or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building & managing high-performing teams in a remote setup, with a focus on operating large-scale data pipelines leveraging technologies such as Scala, Spark, ML, Protocol Buffers, Kafka, Airflow & Elasticsearch.
  • 8+ years of overall software engineering experience developing highly scalable, fault tolerant distributed systems & microservices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Java & Scala, developing RESTful services & a practical experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
  • Stellar communication, organization & management skills with proven track record in an agile environment.
  • Passion for building innovative & user-centric software solutions. Ability to manage multiple priorities & deadlines effectively.

Desired:

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker & Kubernetes for microservices deployment & management.
  • Prior experience working with PHP & knowledge of modern front-end technologies such as React, & Node.js.
  • Applied ML experience & an understanding of frameworks like PyTorch & TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, SIP & VoIP technologies.

Location

This role will be based in our Bengaluru, India office.

Travel
