The role of Associate General Counsel will report into the Senior Director of People & Legal (General Counsel) & have day to day responsibility for large elements of the UK legal function, working closely with the rest of the UK legal team & Global counterparts.

You will: 

•  Actively manage complex commercial matters for HelloFresh on all types of commercial contracts with a consumer or advertising & marketing focus as well as support more junior team members. 
• Work closely with our Compliance, Risk Management Team & Group Data Protection Teams & be responsible for the implementation of group policies & procedures from these teams.
• Leading on UK insurance & corporate matters. 
• Undertaking regular GDPR compliance reviews & training with relevant business functions. 
• Identify creative solutions to legal problems & future proof our contracts.
• Supporting functions across HelloFresh including Tech, Marketing, People, Finance & Operations. 
• Identify potential areas of risk & liability & advise on strategy for avoidance or mitigation, as well as raising & escalating any material business issues internally where required.
• Provide training as appropriate to the Business on commercial contracting & other changes in law impacting the HelloFresh business - including leading on change management projects as a result of legislative changes. 
• work cross-functionally, managing a broad range of legal, ethical & governance risk, while being solution-focused & commercially pragmatic. You will provide rigorous & robust legal advice, guidance, & counsel to the business.
• You will build trusted collaborative relationships across the organisation, establishing yourself as a go-to contact in the Legal team. You will collaborate with the business to influence strategic & operational decisions at all levels.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed:

• UK qualified solicitor 6+ years PQE.
• Training & previous experience in reviewing, drafting & advising on a wide range of commercial contracts within a respectable in-house role or law firm.
• Demonstrable experience of working with all levels of stakeholders in a large global corporate (including the executive leadership team).
• Good understanding of the evolving regulations particularly relating to consumer law, data privacy, competition law & advertising/marketing standards to be able to provide effective advice to the business.
• An effective communicator with demonstrable negotiating & drafting skills.
• Self-motivated, ambitious, team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail as well as a commercial mindset with an ability to explain matters clearly & simply to non-legal stakeholders.
• Evidence of previous project management skills to successfully deliver projects (including cross jurisdiction) & initiatives would be highly desirable.
• Experience of working in retail/FMCG/customer facing industry sector.
