The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a strategic senior leader to oversee Ad Sales, Revenue Operations, Publishing, & Strategy for its International editions & partnerships worldwide. This VP-level role will be responsible for the revenue & audience growth for our owned & operated editions in Canada & Latin America & for the growth & continued success of our license partnerships & JVs in the UK, Australia, Japan, Germany, & more. The right candidate will be performance-driven, analytical, inspiring, ambitious, highly knowledgeable, & experienced in digital publishing & advertising sales. The VP of International will also be entrepreneurial & look to expand the BuzzFeed International network & seek our smart business development opportunities to grow & diversify revenue & audiences worldwide.

This role is a full-time position that reports to the President of Studio & is ideally based in Los Angeles, although remote locations will be considered.

You Will

  • Manage & inspire local business & content content teams across video, social & dotcom content, for our primary brands in each market (BuzzFeed, Tasty, HuffPost & more.)
  • Drive revenue growth & seek out new revenue-generating opportunities. 
  • Liaise regularly with stakeholders from our International partnerships & JVs - advising them on strategy, sharing content & tech developments, providing key data & ensuring the continued success & growth of the partnerships. 
  • Report on audience & revenue data & insights across the International portfolio. 
  • Grow & diversify business interests in LATAM, Canada, & India. 
  • Look to further expand BuzzFeed Internationals network into new regions & business categories. 
  • Forge & maintain strong relationships with US stakeholders to ensure strong connectivity for International & its editions within the larger BuzzFeed ecosystem.
  • Analyze & report on publishing metrics & audience data across all sites & platforms in order to form smart strategies to ensure continued health & encourage growth. 
  • Manage & inspire the operations, physical production & project management functions across international to ensure lean & efficient systems are maintained.
  • Act as a brand ambassador & thought leader in public forums & across communications. 
  • Partner with administrative teams in their support of international markets, ensuring legal, accounting & HR policies & practices are followed by all offices.

You Have

  • Have 8+ years of digital publishing & ad sales experience.  
  • Have experience working in an international capacity & experience with licenses or joint ventures. 
  • Have experience managing business operations at scale. 
  • Have a deep understanding of the digital landscape & an adoration of its turbulence & unpredictability. 
  • Have a demonstrated track-record of successful cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Have a love of & fluency with data.
  • Be a very strong communicator. 
  • Be an experienced & savvy people-manager with an eye for talent.
  • Have an ambitious & competitive drive, always chasing growth & expansion.
