The role

As Category Manager for Ingredients, you will report to the Associate Director for International Procurement that leads the Grocery, Packaging & Convenience Team. You will lead the strategy deployment, act as a point of escalation, own dedicated relationships with strategic suppliers & drive process improvement initiatives across the category.

What youll do

  • Develop & optimize the supplier network across Australia & New Zealand
  • Create ongoing data analysis & category reviews to drive performance strategically within your category & achieve ambitious targets
  • Develop & align the Category Strategy with budget cycles & report on those frequently
  • Support in providing procurement advice, price updates, reporting, invoice approval, replenishment, compliance & tenders
  • Work closely with suppliers to build strong long-term relationships, including contract executions
  • Research & develop relationships with new suppliers to ensure a reliable & diverse network 
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders such as culinary experts, supply chain teams, & operations teams to improve workings between Procurement & other teams 
  • Lead process improvement initiatives across your categories, leveraging various Procurement levers, optimising & standardising cross-category where possible
  • Look to develop & optimise our supplier network as well as new or alternative suppliers
  • Lead & influence a variety of stakeholders within the business specifically for procurement 
  • Work with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-spec deliveries or discuss shortages/missed deliveries for ingredients
  • Solve problems on-the-go in a fast-paced environment

What youll bring

  • Preferably knowledge & interest in food
  • Bachelors degree in Business / Masters in Supply Chain / Procurement (or equivalent)
  • Ideally working within a similar environment & sector (FMCG/Consumer goods)
  • 3+ years of strategic procurement / supply chain / commercial consulting experience, (ideally in food but not a must)
  • Experience with supplier relationship management & driving continuous improvements within a category
  • Quantitative & analytical experience, including solid comfort with Excel
  • Proactive, flexible, ambitious, & assertive: you take ownership of your work
  • Strong organizational skills & ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial & can make things happen, sense of urgency
