At Tommy John we pride ourselves on an exceptional, personal approach to customer experience within our stores & via our e-comm channels. To date, we've built four stores & successfully executed a number of pop-ups within the US. We are looking for a highly innovative VP of Retail to design & scale our customer-obsessed end-to-end Tommy John retail experience that continues to engage & facilitate personal connections among both new & loyal Tommy John customers. 

 

The ideal candidate will take their years of best-in-class retail & hospitality-led experience & apply an entrepreneurial approach to creating & scaling the next generation of experiential retail for Tommy John.

 

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, develop & lead the Retail Operations team by defining team strategy & project plans to execute initiatives
  • Execute a Retail expansion strategy that will position Tommy John to address new customer & revenue growth opportunities head-on
  • Partner in the execution of real estate initiatives with the President including store opening, expansion, relocation & closing processes
  • Act as primary liaison between HQ departments & stores to ensure that all information is communicated in a timely, consistent & brand appropriate way
  • Drive channel strategy to deliver a seamless end-to-end customer experience
  • Plan & manage a multi-million-dollar budget, leveraging financial rigor to prioritize & allocate resources effectively
  • Partner with HQ Finance department to leverage efficiencies & expenses
  • Align with HR & Retail Operations team to support training tools & new hire onboarding process to enhance customer experience & increase store productivity
  • Oversee the hiring, recruiting, on-boarding, coaching, training, leading & retaining of all staff across all store locations
  • Collaborate with various teams to develop the retail marketing strategy, including an in-store event calendar
  • Partner with Marketing to ensure seamless and effective social media, email & promotional support for stores
  • Develop a network of appropriate agencies that can scale consistent, bar-raising store experiences in line with Tommy John's growth
  • Provide consistent feedback to Merchandising & identify areas of opportunity for new products as well as sharing the voice of the customer as received in store
  • Travel when necessary to Tommy John locations nationwide for openings, special events, training, new location scouting & whenever necessary to achieve goals

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent retail leadership experience
  • Courageous, discerning, mindful, curious, & devoted to the customer
  • 15+ years of retail & operational experience, specifically in retail field operations, workforce management & communications
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment & prioritize workload to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines
  • Proven leadership ability, as well as strength in building internal partnerships
  • Ability to think strategically & develop achievable long-term goals
  • Strong organizational, project management & time management skills to successfully implement strategic initiatives from concept through execution
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills with attention to detail & accuracy
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, & presentation skills; including the ability to provide written & verbal direction effectively
  • A proven ability to define & inspire others to achieve corporate objectives & strategies
  • Strong ability to anticipate long term needs & develop plans with achievable timelines
  • A solutions-oriented mentality with a data driven approach
  • A growth mindset: track record of leveraging past learnings, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit, always imagining whats possible
  • Proven ability to build cross functional partnerships to ensure corporate alignment; a team player
