National Account Manager - Retail Sales - Remote - United States

FTE, Retail Sales account manager responsible for growing business in multiple channels.

WHO WERE LOOKING FOR 

On the BARK Retail team, we are looking for smart, strategic, & creative individuals who have a passion for not only growing BARKs business in existing Retail channels & partners, but who also want to change the Retail conversation itself.  Bark magic has transformed the world of dog toys & treats, & as we continue to grow, we are looking to apply the same entrepreneurial spirit to our brand in Retail.  

We seek a National Accounts Manager who can confidently sell our lifestyle brand into existing & new retail partners.  A dog lover with a strong business acumen & attention to detail for financials, planning & business relationships.  An individual who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, working closely with cross functional partners to achieve a common goal.   

KEY DUTIES 

  • Develop the vision & the strategy for deep customer partnership & strong, healthy revenue growth.
    • Take accountability for key account revenue & profitability goals; seek opportunity throughout the year to deliver above plan.
    • Ownership of day-to-day account management, with an opportunistic eye for account growth.  Both with existing & new accounts.  
    • Channel growth by growing distribution within the responsible channel of trade.  Existing customer growth by gaining incremental space in current & new categories.  Business development by promoting products in a profitable cadence that gains market share.
    • Development & implementation of accounts overall strategy including translating retailer problems & needs into BARK opportunity & monitoring on-going execution to optimize learning & success.
  • Build strong relationships with buyers & rep firms if/where they exist; this includes leadership of current initiatives as well as opportunistic growth pitches & travel to retailer HQ.
  • Assist team in development & execution of channel marketing initiatives in-store experience, floor sales training & incentives, promotional activity.
  • Monitor product assortments, sales & inventory positions of all accounts, to ensure optimum sell-through as well as sell-in.
  • Maintain general market awareness & knowledge of account activities; monitor/ communicate competitive conditions & product/design trends. 
  • Ensure cross-functional communication within BARK retail team.
  • Work alongside the retail management team & finance to negotiate terms, discounts, freight & return requests in line with internal goals. Will also have responsibility for implementing & enforcing Online & Digital advertising policies to ensure accounts are following the most updated set of policies.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in managing key/national accounts.  
  • Highly skilled in retail account management experience with multiple channels of trade & key retailers
  • Obsessed with customer relationships & long-view account planning/expansion
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, be proactive & meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organization, negotiation, communication & presentation skills.
  • Strong team player with ability to collaborate & lead tasks cross-departmentally.
  • Not afraid to make a fart joke
  • Must love dogs. No need to watch the movie Must Love Dogs.

This position is a full-time/salaried position. This role is remote & preferably on the west coast, closer to key customers.  We offer health insurance for both you & your pup, & 401k.

FOR CO/NJ/NY BASED APPLICANTS: 

  • The base salary range for this position is $145,000- $175,000

Sales incentive bonus plan based on achieving revenue & profit goals. 

  • This position is eligible for equity 
  • This position is eligible for our Sales Incentive Plan 

**This compensation range is based on BARKs good faith estimate as of the date of this posting & may be modified in the future. Actual pay for this position will depend on a variety of variables including location, travel, internal equity, experience, education, skills & expertise.
