The role:
Were seeking a skilled, creative Learning Experience Designer - STEM Editor to curate & produce high-quality science, technology, engineering, & math articles, images, & videos for Newsela.
You bring expertise in STEM writing & editing, a sharp sense of what engages students, the ability to support diverse learners through accessible design, & fluency with curriculum standards & instructional best practices.
In this role, you will curate, edit, & occasionally author student- & teacher-facing STEM content; coordinate freelance writers & editors; & ensure every asset meets our standards for engagement, instructional value, accuracy, & accessibility. Youll collaborate closely with STEM learning designers, editors, product managers, & software engineers to deliver compelling, standards-aligned materials, & youll leverage AI tools to streamline ideation, drafting, editing, & quality checks.

- Collaborate & give feedback: Coordinate freelancers with actionable feedback to maintain quality & consistency; partner with Ops & crossfunctional teams, keep work transparent in production tools, lead or contribute initiatives that meet teacher & student needs, & earn trust to work independently & innovate.
Why you're a great fit:
- 3+ years of professional experience in STEM content development for a publisher or educational technology company.
- Published writing & editing experience with a strong preference for prior experience specifically writing or editing STEM content.
- Strong knowledge of science & math standards & STEM instruction
- Experience designing lessons & assessments for various grade levels (K-8 preferred).
- Familiarity with educational publishing standards & instructional technology.
- Ability to manage multiple projects & meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with content authoring tools (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems, & digital curriculum platforms).
- Comfort with & enthusiasm for using AI in the content development process.
Compensation:
- Base compensation range: $62,000 - $70,000 per year.
- Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options & benefits.
