As a Staff Engineer (Infrastructure, Scalability, Reliability), you will be at the forefront of driving & executing cross R&D initiatives that are critical to our technological evolution & scalability. You will lead the research & design of sophisticated systems, including multi-region architecture designed to support scaling, as well as pioneering asynchronous communication methods & optimizing internal service-to-service interactions.
Your role will involve not only the theoretical research but also the hands-on implementation of a variety of projects aimed at enhancing our system's resilience & efficiency. This includes developing strategies for load balancing, load shedding, & architecting cost-efficient solutions through code optimization.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will navigate a broad spectrum of technological disciplines, ranging from network & operating system internals to code optimizations & high-level architecture planning, ensuring a comprehensive approach to our technology strategy & implementation.
You will steer the technical strategy & vision for our underpinning infrastructure, guiding our efforts towards achieving a robust, scalable, & efficient technological foundation.

What You'll Do:

• Develop, drive, execute, & lead a long term vision & strategy for Vias Site Reliability, infrastructure, & tooling
• Write, build, deploy, & maintain code in production
• Collaborate with engineering groups to establish best practices & standards for incident response & management
• Continuously enhance our infrastructure & supporting procedures so that it is easy to maintain & deploys reliably

Who You Are:

• BS degree or Masters degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in cloud engineering
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in backend development
• Experience designing, deploying, building or managing distributed systems of significant scale
• Multithreading, multiprocessing experience in different types of environments - low & high level
• Professional experience & capability with essential cloud infrastructure systems (Kubernetes, AWS, GCE).
• Track record of growing & assembling a high functioning engineering organization
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks & keep projects on schedule
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a geo-distributed team
