Summary of role

Develop & operate our planet-scale Kubernetes Platform for running Sumo Logics microservices to power our Observability & Security products across the world.  Provide consistent & seamless interfaces that enable our microservices to leverage key Kubernetes & underlying cloud features.  Allow microservices to run securely & efficiently without interruption.  Make your customers (Sumos developers) happy! 

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy, tools, libraries, & workflow for evolving our internal Kubernetes Solution to maximize benefits for Sumos developers & product teams
  • Facilitate internal adoption of our Kubernetes platform to realize optimized autoscaling, cost efficiency, automated problem remediation, & modern continuous deployment patterns
  • Work with your team to establish service level objectives & monitor to ensure the objectives are met or exceeded
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to manage incidents & support the services you have developed
  • Drive root cause identification & issue resolution & continually improve operational posture
  • Work inside of a fast-paced iterative environment

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Cloud native application development & operations leveraging Kubernetes at scale; hands-on experience with scaling technologies like Karpenter & HPA
  • Operating (monitoring, alerting) workloads 
  • Deep understanding of AWS Networking, Compute, Storage, & managed services.
  • Competency with modern CI/CD tooling like Kubernetes, Terraform, AgroCD, Ansible & Jenkins
  • Experience with full life cycle support of services, from creation to production support
  • Versed in Infrastructure as Code practices using technologies like Terraform, Cloud Formation, etc.
  • Coding fluency in at least Java, Scala or GoLang - & ability to author production ready code
  • Experience with Linux systems
  • Understand & apply modern approaches to cloud-native software security
  • Experienced with agile frameworks, such as Scrum & Kanban, & how to operate within these frameworks to continually deliver value
  • Flexible & willing to step into new roles & responsibilities
  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Computer Science
  • Years of Experience..... 6+ years for Senior, 10+ years for Staff, 12+ years for Senior Staff
  • 2+ years of Staff/Lead experience working on high impact projects with data at scale
  • Ability to lead, mentor, & work across teams with an emphasis on excellent communication

Sumo Logic Privacy Policy

The expected annual base salary range for this is variable based on level (Senior/ Staff/ Senior Staff) That range can be anywhere from $165k- 245k. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but arent limited to) role level, skills & competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, & experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible to participate in our bonus or commission plans, as well as our benefits offerings, & equity awards.
