Role Description

Dropbox is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the buildout & ongoing operations of our global network of data centers & Points of Presence (PoPs). In this role, you'll be part of a specialized & growing team responsible for the physical infrastructure at Dropbox.

The ideal candidate will also have extensive hands-on experience in datacenter environments & Points of Presence (PoPs), with proven expertise in the installation, configuration, & troubleshooting of networking & server hardware, including routers, switches, & servers.

Responsibilities

• Work with the datacenter team to handle any abnormal conditions in our data center.
• Understand, troubleshoot, & fix broken servers.
• Install servers, racks & network gear in our data centers.
• Work with the datacenter team to deploy new data center infrastructure.
• Assist with promoting best practices in a data center.
• Work closely with SRE & Network Engineering to automate & refine processes.
• Responsible for handling incoming shipments & track server assets.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years experience with large-scale datacenter hardware deployments, & able to build & scale infrastructure.
• Intermediate knowledge of network topology, ability to troubleshoot physical network connectivity problems (fiber & copper).
• Experience with desktop PC and/or datacenter server hardware.
• Intermediate knowledge of Linux, operational understanding of and how to modify/add DNS zone files, experience using version control such as git or hg, basic scripting, & regular expressions.
• Able to lift 9-23 kg on a daily basis.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
• Excellent time & project management skills.
