WHAT YOULL DO

As the Senior Marketing Manager for our video podcasts, youll spearhead the audience growth strategies for key shows in the Vox Media Podcast Network, with a special focus on growing our podcasts YouTube & social communities. Youll identify target audiences & launch cross-channel marketing campaigns across social, audio, web, newsletters, print & more to drive them to our video & audio content. Youll work closely with show production teams to optimize their YouTube & social presence, test new strategies for improving audience discovery, retention & engagement, & analyze audience trends & data to improve performance over time. Youll work with Communications, Engagement, & Editorial teams across the company to identify opportunities for collaboration & cross-promotion. More broadly, youll act as a proactive, trusted marketing partner for our show teams & hosts, bringing an audience-first, data-driven perspective to day-to-day discussions about what strategies to pursue to help our shows grow.

Audience Strategy & Analysis

  • Working with the Executive Director of Marketing to create launch & marketing plans, including defining audience targets, key tactics, & messaging
  • Monitoring & analyzing video, social & audio performance for key shows & reporting/interpreting key takeaways to show teams & leadership
  • Using research & data to better understand our target audiences, industry trends & the competitive space for our shows
  • Coordinating with Insights & Engagement teams to develop surveys, focus groups & research projects to help internal teams understand our audiences better

Social & Video Audience Engagement

  • Working with editorial teams, talent & the Executive Director of Marketing to establish long-term social & video audience strategies for select shows in the Vox Media Podcast Network
  • Developing & iterating on social & video best practices to help shows build & retain their cross-channel audiences
  • Working with production & design teams to develop compelling social assets & useful social templates for each of our shows
  • Researching, testing & executing new & innovative ways to engage podcast audiences across platforms, particularly YouTube, Instagram TikTok & other emerging platforms
  • Regularly monitoring & reporting on audience data across social, video & audio channels, providing thoughtful recommendations for improving performance

Show & Network Promotion

  • Identifying & spearheading opportunities for internal & external collaborations between relevant shows & editorial brands
  • Overseeing internal audio & video promos across the network, working with editorial to develop new promos as needed
  • Working alongside show teams to develop compelling positioning & copy for their target audiences (including taglines, show descriptions, promotional copy)
  • Collaborating with internal teams to spotlight our podcasts across Vox Medias websites, social channels, newsletters, video, text & other channels in creative ways
  • Planning & executing external paid/trade marketing plans for priority shows & campaigns
  • Testing new approaches, tactics & channels for growing audiences
  • Working closely with the communications team to identify earned PR opportunities for hit shows & key talent.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Previous experience building audiences across multiple channels, with deep expertise in YouTube audience growth
  • Strong experience writing consumer-facing marketing copy (e.g. social media posts, video titles, promotional language)
  • Experience analyzing data to make informed decisions, particularly on YouTube & social channels
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders & build strong relationships with internal & external partners, with experience in client service a plus
  • Strong visual design sensibility (experience with Photoshop a plus)
  • A creative, proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Experience in fast-paced & dynamic environments
  • An understanding of audiences across a range of channels & platforms
  • A track record of learning new channels, industries & markets quickly
  • Enthusiasm for learning & growing
  • Experience working with high-profile talent a plus
  • Experience with Premiere, AfterEffects or other video editing tools a plus

PAY TRANSPARENCY
