Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring an Analytics Engineer II to join our Analytics Engineering team.

About the role

As an Analytics Engineer II, you will occupy a vital position in Oscars financial data pipeline, both as an architect of improvements to its infrastructure & in the delivery of transformed data to downstream users.  You will play a leading role in the design & implementation of the Financial Data Hub, a DBT project of fit for purpose financial transaction data & functionality, & its integration with financial record keeping software.  You will also contribute to the creation & enhancement of comprehensive & reliable Certified Datasets (CDS) curated to reduce time-to-insight for stakeholders & facilitate efficient answering of business questions.  You will maintain strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders & partner with them to understand requirements for the Financial Data Hub & for Finance CDS features.

You will report to an Associate Director, Analytics Engineering.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office ( in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Ave), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Pay Transparency: 

The base pay for this role is: $119,200 - $156,450 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, monthly vacation accrual up to 10 days per year, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants & annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Finance team to determine the requirements for the structure of data & functionality in the Financial Data Hub & the flow of data between the Hub & Finance's software.  Design & build the Hub & its connections based on those requirements.
  • Become a financial data subject matter expert & use that knowledge both to inform the design & build of the Financial Data Hub & to contribute to expanding the breadth, depth, & accuracy of Finance CDS, the principal direct source of financial data for the Hub & for business users across Oscar.
  • Promote data fidelity in upstream data producing systems & expand quality checks within Finance CDS & the Financial Data Hub.
  • Partner with Engineering to validate updates to raw financial data structure within an evolving production system & update Finance CDS & Financial Data Hub code accordingly while preventing service interruption for stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities & implement solutions to enhance the efficiency of existing financial data transformations, with a focus on speed, cost-effectiveness, & stability.
  • Train & mentor data scientists & data engineers in analytics engineering best practices

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with a variety of database languages, including SQL, DDL & DML with demonstrated ability to efficiently transform data & databases.
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud database tools (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • 2+ years of experience developing within a modern data transformation tool like DBT.
  • 1+ years of experience working with & presenting to non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points

  • Experience integrating cloud database tools (GCP, AWS, Azure) with financial software (Workday, Netsuite)
  • Experience working with healthcare data, analytics, & reporting.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
  • A background in healthcare and/or insurance.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal & written, as demonstrated by experience on at least 1 project or initiative requiring communication between technical & non-technical users.

Pay Transparency: 

Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, & experience.
