The Data Engineer is responsible for driving critical data infrastructure development, optimization & adoption to scale organizational data & analytics capabilities. This includes building data pipelines, defining data storage, management, & governance strategies, assessing new technologies, & deploying data assets & solutions into production, including effectively communicating the scope & details of these data solutions to both data-centric & non-data-centric stakeholders. Reporting to the Associate Director, Data & Analytics, this role will work within a team of Data Engineers on building effective & scalable data infrastructure.

- Lead the design & development of various engineering solutions, across multiple stakeholder groups, including building data pipelines, maintaining critical infrastructure, & deploying various data solutions into production
- Collaborate with data scientists, business intelligence specialists, & other data peers to deliver best in class data assets (e.g. databases, systems/tools, web apps) to the organization as part of a holistic data framework/strategy, to facilitate effective, long-term scalability
- Work with local & global stakeholders to accelerate the deprecation of legacy systems/data stacks, as well as the implementation of next-gen replacement systems, to better align to a global infrastructure & data strategy, including providing technical consultation on best practices & strategy
- Lead the development of documentation around critical infrastructure, data systems, data tables, data flows, & other data artefacts for knowledge socialization, including engaging with & training stakeholders when necessary, to drive data fluency & adoption
- Support manager with elements of team management activities, including talent acquisition, performance management, career development, & upskilling
- Collaborate with other engineers, as well as other data peers, on various technical skill sets & industry/field best practices, including providing support as needed on projects/workstreams requiring higher levels of SME experience
- Liaise with Global data engineering teams to identify opportunities for collaboration, support, knowledge sharing & adoption of infrastructure
- Lead discussions, manage projects & present findings to stakeholders, peers & senior leaders through effective, clear communication
- All other duties, as assigned
Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for
- 3-5 years of experience leading large-scale data engineering projects & mentoring junior engineering resources
- Demonstrable experience & familiarity with relevant, industry-leading data tools/systems (e.g., Databricks, Airflow, Snowflake, AWS/S3, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, StreamLit, etc.)
- Advanced, demonstrable Python programming knowledge & experience
- Advanced, demonstrable SQL querying knowledge & experience
- Experience delivering quantifiable value for various commercial stakeholder groups, including driving data training initiatives, & clearly communicating technical details to non-technical stakeholders to enable critical decision-making
- Experience supporting team data strategies & operating models with business partners
- Bachelors degree in STEM, Economics or Business preferred, or equivalent work experience
