Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Manager to join our Employee Relations team.

About the role:

The Employee Relations team is responsible for ongoing engagement with Oscar employees & maintaining a pulse on culture, attrition, thematic employee grievances & setting a consistent standard for solutioning. The team oversees activities across the organization related to employee/labor relations, policy adherence, investigations, & risk mitigation.

You will lead an Employee Relations team to support our fast growing employee population. You will work cross-functionally with departments in & outside of the People Team including close partnership with Oscar's legal counsel. You will set the standard for execution of employee relations processes & practices, provide consultation & guidance to leaders, & support proactive & reactive projects associated with the ER space. In this role you will serve as someone for all things ER.

Ultimately, this job is about risk detection & mitigation, crisis management, people leadership, & leading through others.

You will report into the Associate Director, Human Resources. This is a remote role, you will work remotely in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Note, this list of states is subject to change.


  • Develop team strategy to diagnose & report themes on employee grievance, company culture, & attrition.
  • Manage effective case management of people related issues such as: complex ER issues, high risk disciplinary actions, legal issues (harassment, discrimination, accommodations, etc.), policy interpretation/application & investigations.
  • Define stakeholder engagement models to educate & improve on risk mitigation including setting escalation standards, ongoing training, & feedback loop processes.
  • Partner with internal & external counsel to create an outstanding employee relation standard
  • Build relationships with leaders at all levels while maintaining objectivity
  • Add creativity to the way we do HR. Always looking for ways to be more efficient, effective, & innovative


  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in employment related matters/HR experience
  • 3+ years experience leading a team
  • Experience anchoring team processes to HR policies, fair labor laws, & employee relations protocols
  • Familiarity & interest in analytics & developing metrics
  • Excellent verbal & written communications with the ability to break down complicated topics into simple terms
  • Ability to manage deadlines & work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of employment laws, EEOC Requirements ,STD/FMLA, Reasonable Accommodation, FLSA/wage-hour laws, etc.
  • Experience in conducting investigations at all levels of employee tenure & level.

Bonus points:

  • HR certifications (i.e. SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP)
  • Privileged user experience with HR Info Systems, e.g., Bamboo, Namely, Workday
  • Experience with Case Management Software (CMS), e.g., ServiceNow HR, HR Acuity, i-Sight
  • Experience in tech
