About this role

Location: (ON, AB, BC)

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM

We are looking for an Associate Category Manager, Grocery, who will help us build out our vendor network & continuously improve our end-to-end sourcing process. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, Grocery, you will contribute to & execute our strategic roadmap, manage vendor relationships, support negotiations, launch new ingredients, & streamline internal procurement processes. As part of the Procurement team, you will play a key role in improving our costs, ingredient quality, supply chain reliability, & product innovation - helping us deliver the best possible value to our customers.

What you will do

  • Support development & execution of our sourcing strategy for the category, driving improvements & supply chain performance in:
    • Cost: consistently optimize our cost base
    • Quality: identify & reduce quality errors
    • Reliability: ensure supply availability & proactively mitigate risk in the supply chain
    • Customer offering: drive product innovation & create a unique competitive advantage
  • Leverage large internal datasets & industry benchmarks to report on team progress against objectives, identify & prioritize new opportunities, & drive continuous improvement
  • Support vendor negotiation & selection process
  • Lead projects that drive innovative & sustainable packaging solutions
  • Manage new & existing vendor relationships, providing feedback on performance & collaborating on key initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally within the organization to prioritize & develop new products that deliver improved value for our customers
  • All other duties, as assigned

At a minimum you have

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of related experience in a hands-on, high-performance environment (ideal backgrounds include sourcing, supply chain, operations, or consulting)
  • Analytical & data skills: able to dig through data independently & draw helpful insights/conclusions. Strong Excel skills are a must! 
  • Structured approach & communication style: ability to clearly & persuasively communicate with a large variety of stakeholders
  • A love for solving complex, ambiguous problems in a fast-paced environment with constant change & limited direction
  • Bonus: Strategic sourcing experience, ideally across different steps of the sourcing process; comfortable managing negotiations with vendors
