As a Software Engineer, you will help our Back End team build & maintain the systems that power the core journey planner app (router & real time data) as well as develop & expand our system around payment, ticketing & 3rd party integrations. This includes the information that is presented to the final user in the apps, but also the internal logs & metrics consumed by other systems & teams.
We recently completed the move to Kubernetes using AWS EKS & Karpenter - our deployment consists of around 5000 pods on average.
What You'll Do:
- Design, maintain, & build backend systems that handle large amounts of transport data with zero downtime
- Take ownership of development, maintenance, testing strategy, deployment, & operations.
- Write, review & discuss technical documents
- Provide support to other engineers & non-technical teams across Citymapper
- Have an impact on product development by making impactful technical decisions, influencing the system architecture, development practices & more
Who You Are:
- You have strong experience working on a sizable project ( in terms of scale or feature set).
- A track record of working with Product teams would be preferred - ideally in a B2C environment. Generally, a minimum of 4 years of experience would be recommended.
- You are proficient in cloud computing platforms would be ideal, preferably AWS & Kubernetes.
- You have designed & built systems that are highly available & handle large amounts of data
- Effective at managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment & comfortable working both independently & in teams
- A great communicator with the ability to adjust to a variety of stakeholders
- A real team player who enjoys wearing multiple hats & collaborating on projects of all types
