Hybrid role at HQ Needham MA

Tripadvisor is recruiting an attorney to serve as Legal Counsel for commercial deals, digital advertising campaigns & agreements, & licensing matters, joining the company's global legal team. This position will support & provide transactional related advice to the companys various business units focused on interacting with clients, advertising agencies, vendors & customers.  

This position will work closely with, & report directly to, the Senior Corporate Counsel responsible for similar commercial deals to those described above. This position will be tethered to Tripadvisor's global headquarters in Needham, Massachusetts, but candidates throughout the United States & United Kingdom are encouraged to apply given Tripadvisor's commitment to hybrid work.

As Legal Counsel, your responsibilities will include:

• providing legal support for a variety of Tripadvisors global business teams, including: Sales, Marketing, Business-to-Business Solutions, Analytics & Research, Product, & others;

• providing prompt legal advice & support on a wide variety of legal topics related to media buying, advertising, data, creative services, online campaigns, promotions, sweepstakes, & marketing materials & programs;

• embedding within Tripadvisors in-house advertising agency, in order to assist with new campaign ideas & execution thereof;

• drafting & negotiating commercial agreements, including, multimedia advertising sales, advertising technology, data collection & use, research & analytics, integrated marketing, branded & custom content, influencer marketing, out-of-home & social media platforms, sponsorships & promotions, programmatic advertising, venue license agreements, production services agreements, & non-disclosure agreements;

• ensuring compliance with applicable laws & regulations;

• providing strategic legal & business advice to help develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to legal issues/risks; 

• working closely with other lawyers in the Legal Department (in Needham, MA, & globally) in a collaborative manner; and

• engaging & managing outside counsel.

What are we looking for?

• 4-6 years of experience, preferably with both law firm & in-house corporate experience, with experience in handling commercial agreements, sales, digital media, content creation, data, privacy, & analytics-related matters.

• Current state bar membership is sufficient to enable you to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or another state.

• Strong work ethic & ability to balance, prioritize, & follow through on numerous agreements & projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Self-starter & able to work well independently & as part of a team, with strong organizational & interpersonal skills.

• Effective written & oral communication skills.

• Excellent business judgment & strategic thinking.

• Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second European language (Spanish, French, Italian, or German) is a plus, but not required.
