About this team & role:

The Firefox Design Systems team (Acorn) works on maintaining the design system behind Firefox desktop & mobile applications. Our work makes sure that we keep the Internet open & accessible for all.

Were looking for a senior level design systems designer to help us scale our design system for Firefox. As a Senior design systems designer, you'll be growing & evolving the Acorn design system by championing clarity cohesion, accessibility & scalability of Firefox across platforms.

The first year can include projects across a wide spectrum of our system. Look at working cross functionality on mobile design patterns, messaging components, component documentation, & Figma library updates.

What youll do: 

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product designers, content designers, engineers, & accessibility specialists to enhance & expand the Acorn design system across Firefox products.
  • Design & Innovate: Engage in the design, documentation, & improvement of components & styles, ensuring a consistent & accessible user experience across Firefox.
  • Maintain Design Standards: Evolve & upkeep Figma libraries, component documentation, & design tokens, serving as a foundational resource for the design community.
  • Create & Guide: Develop wireframes, visual designs, interaction guidelines, & prototypes, emphasizing accessibility, usability, & internationalization.
  • Educate & Support: Document best practices & guidelines, providing support to designers & engineers on effective component or pattern utilization.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Lead design sessions & workshops, offering ideas to refine & enhance the design system.
What youll bring: 
  • 3-5 years of professional product or UX design experience
  • Experience working on & contributing to a design system in the past.
  • A portfolio with examples of your work.
  • Familiar with Google Material Design & Apple Human Interface Guidelines
  • Self-starter who thrives on responsibility & accountability.
  • Flexible, efficient, & comfortable with ambiguity & able to move quickly from planning to execution.
  • In depth knowledge of UX best practices.
  • Have a background in crafting cross platform products for both web & mobile.
  • Proven experience working with Figma.
  • Excited to learn new design system technologies, tools, & standards.
  • Deep understanding of developing products that prioritize accessibility.
