Role Description
Dropboxs Core Business team is looking for a VP of Design to lead multi-disciplinary teams in building best-in-class product experiences that delight our customers. As a VP of Design, you will lead design for Dropboxs core products including FSS, DocSend, & Sign for personal, professional, & team use & will be responsible for ensuring every interaction our customers have is met with an it just works experience. You will report directly to General Manager for Core and play a pivotal role in shaping the design direction of the company. Youll work closely with leaders across the business and shape not just our products, but our people & the way we design & build. We've built a top-tier design team & are seeking a visionary leader to guide our next phase of growth.
Responsibilities
- You will lead & inspire a world-class design organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, & continuous improvement
- Lead the team in balancing urgency vs. the incredibly high quality bar expected by both our customers & the broader Dropbox organization
- Craft and communicate a compelling long-term design strategy & vision
- Lead the design process for your team - from problem definition to design implementation
- Partner closely with leadership across functions - product, engineering, research, marketing, & other cross functional teams - to ensure products are well-defined, high impact, and successfully executed
- Work closely with design leadership to ensure a cohesive customer experience across all products
- Create a team of best-in-class designers who obsess over customers & move fast in a highly ambiguous environment
- Grow the design team by attracting & hiring new talent

Requirements
- Demonstrated mastery of Design Thinking methodology with clear examples of successfully leading teams through the empathize, define, ideate, prototype, & test process; as well as proficiency in complementary methodologies such as Double Diamond, Jobs-to-be-Done, Service Design, or Lean UX
- At least 13 years of professional experience leading a design team
- A portfolio of relevant design work, executed either by yourself or a team that you led, that conveys an ability to ship successful products that customers love
- A customer-centered approach to designing products for people
- A hands-on, self starter leader, with high ownership, who can think big, but also dive-deep & straddle both altitudes while connecting the dots
- Deep experience working with product managers, engineering, & marketing to drive vision, strategy & execution
- Comfortable juggling a wide range of responsibilities at the same time
- A collaborative, low-ego approach to working with others
Preferred Qualifications
- Success leading the thoughtful integration of generative design tools, LLMs, & computational design methodologies into creative workflows while preserving team autonomy & elevating overall design quality
