About the Role

Stitch Fix is seeking a client focused, product obsessed & data driven Associate Buyer to join our dynamic Merchandising team. As an Associate Buyer, you will be responsible for owning a portion of the business within a specific divisional product category as an individual contributor. You will regularly analyze the business & execute actions based on learnings, involving calculated risks & bold decision-making. You will develop sound financial & product strategies aimed at meeting financial targets, delighting our clients & evolving our assortment. The Associate Buyer will also own curating & creating assortments from all brand partners. Lastly, you will present strategies & assortments to leadership & cross-functional partners to gain alignment.

  • Be accountable for driving department level strategies & financial outcomes that deliver on a client right assortment.
  • Analyze the business consistently & clearly communicate performance, providing actionable recommendations on opportunities, involving calculated risks & bold decision-making. 
  • Participate in ongoing competitive market analysis, exhibiting excitement about product & trends. Identify product gaps & white space opportunities that are appropriate for Stitch Fix, keeping in mind the price value equation, & a balance of fashion & basic product.
  • Build & maintain strong partnerships with cross-functional team members & a wide range of vendor partners, both new & existing.
  • Own strategic management of a large vendor matrix, inclusive of market & private brands, identifying core competencies to maximize product opportunities & reach financial goals.
  • Partner with your manager & Planning counterparts to actively & responsibly manage open-to-buy budgets.

Were excited about you because

  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a retail buying or merchandising role, or 6-8 years of experience in a diversified retail environment; across multiple categories, brands and/or channels preferred.
  • You always think about the client first & drive assortment decisions that properly weigh risk versus opportunity to best serve our clients.
  • You are product obsessed & adept at spotting & reacting to trends across the market.
  • You are versatile, having a range of experience buying across different aesthetics, price points & age groups, & can adapt product strategies accordingly.
  • You have worked in an environment where change is constant & youve demonstrated your ability to maintain flexibility & a solutions-driven approach.
  • You are an excellent negotiator & build relationships that are rooted in trust & partnership.
  • You have strong oral & written communication skills & can clearly articulate your strategy to others.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) & love learning new systems.
  • You are able to travel up to 15-20% of the time. 
  • You understand that this role is "Commutable" & are able to "commute" to San Francisco, CA a minimum of 5-9 days/month (at your own cost).

Compensation & Benefits

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, & the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire & ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee & company performance.
