We are looking for a Financial & Business Controller to support our Marketing, COGS, Production, & Logistics teams. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong accounting foundation & a passion for leveraging data & technical skills to drive business performance. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring financial discipline within the business functions & providing insightful analysis.
Reporting to the Associate Director Accounting & Controlling, you will collaborate with senior leadership, marketing, operations, & FP&A to maintain financial integrity while identifying opportunities for growth.
In this role, you'll act as a key financial liaison, directly supporting business functions. You'll be responsible for more than just reporting; you'll be embedded within the team, using your technical expertise to understand & influence the drivers of costs particularly relating to Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), production, logistics, & marketing spend. Your ability to work with scripts & data tables will be essential in extracting, analyzing, & presenting complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
This is how youll make an impact
- Partner with business functions & FP&A to monitor & control budgets & forecasts for marketing spend, COGS, production, & logistics.
- Analyze profitability, cost optimization, & financial performance metrics, utilizing technical skills (e.g., SQL, Python, Excel VBA).
- Provide insights on inventory management, pricing, & business operations trends.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for relevant P&L accounts, such as inventory, ensuring data integrity & compliance with accounting standards.
- Identify & implement process improvements to enhance efficiency & accuracy in financial reporting & analysis within business functions.
- Develop & maintain financial models & dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) & provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Proactively identify & investigate significant variances against budget & forecast; collaborate with FP&A to provide clear explanations & recommend corrective actions.
- Contribute to the month-end & year-end close processes, ensuring all operational costs are accurately reflected.
- Execute ad-hoc projects as necessary.
These are the ingredients youll bring to the team
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles, with a strong understanding of financial principles & accounting practices (IFRS).
- Background in online retail or inventory-based industries is a plus.
- Proven technical proficiency with data manipulation & analysis tools, such as SQL, Python, R, or advanced Excel (VBA). Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Fluency in English (Dutch is a plus but not required).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, & draw meaningful conclusions.
- Excellent communication skills: fluent in English, with the ability to effectively collaborate with local & central teams & present financial insights to stakeholders at all levels from Global C-suite to local operational level.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, & manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
