About the job

This position is needed to grow & evolve CustomerAI at Twilio Segment. Twilio Segments market leading customer data platform (CDP) enables businesses to capture, analyze & act on customer signals in real-time across all channels. Working in tandem with Segments golden customer profile, generative & predictive AI will streamline ideation & execution of campaigns while curating high-quality, bespoke experiences..

In this role, you will be building 0 to 1 products with fast iteration cycles working cross-functionally with backend engineers, ml engineers, product managers & designers to align on scope & design.

You will need to understand & articulate the trade-offs between new functionality & stability. You will need to persuade all involved to make the right architectural & design choices for the long term technical & financial health of the product.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of backend & full stack engineers to build, deploy, & iterate on customer facing AI applications in partnership with other Intelligence teams. 
  • Set the technical vision for your team & be accountable for team plans & deliverables.
  • Grow & develop an incredible team of hardworking & motivated engineers with individual ownership & impact.
  • Ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, & continuously seeks ways to make an impact.

Qualifications

Required:

  • BS in a relevant field or related work experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience building production grade systems.
  • 3+ years of engineering management experience. 
  • The ability to communicate well. You can explain technical concepts to product managers, other engineers, & support teams.
  • Have strong familiarity with agile processes, continuous integration, & a strong belief in automation over toil.
  • Proven software engineering skills across languages such as JavaScript, Python, Go. 

Desired:

  • Experience or interest in building predictive or generative AI products.
  • Experience working in a geographically distributed team.  

Location

This role will be located in our India working remotely. 

Travel 

We prioritize connection & opportunities to build relationships with our customers & each other. For this role, approximately 5% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.
