The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for a Studio Engineer to join our New York City Production Technology team. This role will report to the Production Technology Manager. They will oversee all of our Studio production technology on-site. This Engineer will plan, design, & operate productions at our in house studio. This person will be in charge of all aspects relating to managing the technical operation of a studio/control room facility.
You Will
- Direct a studio team of camera operators, audio engineers, teleprompter operators, field operators, & GFX operators.
- Operate, test, & troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, & control room equipment & monitor for quality during live & taped productions.
- Work with the show producers to plan, build, execute, & break down productions from an engineering standpoint.
- Research & present solutions & technologies as needed for different projects & requests.
- Serve as Engineer-In-Charge or Technical Director for live & live to tape productions.
- Maintain, understand, operate, service & upgrade the equipment in our studios, including all gear in our machine room & control room (routers, switchers, graphics systems, comms equipment, KVM etc.).
- Camera operator for Studio & field shoots with a familiarity with Canon, Sony, & Black Magic Design Cameras.
You Have
- 3 years of experience working in television production technology.
- Proficient knowledge of the following or similar systems, Ross, Tricaster, Evertz, Telemetrics, Xpression, ETC lighting consoles, ClearCom, Black Magic Design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of studio engineering, technology, equipment, & facilities production.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral & written communication skills & the ability to communicate with a base who possess varying levels of technical proficiencies.
- Must be able to work from our NYC office.
