The role: 

We are seeking a skilled & creative Learning Experience Designer for our ELA & STEM team to develop high-quality English Language Arts instructional content & activities, with a focus on developing & refining high-quality educational content for Newsela Original Video. This role requires expertise in curriculum standards & pedagogical best practices alongside a deep understanding of childrens media engagement habits & preferences to create effective resources for diverse learners. This role blends curriculum expertise, educational script writing/editing, & project coordination across both ELA & STEM subject areas. The ideal candidate will not only write & edit scripts themselves, but also coordinate with freelance writers & editors to ensure every piece of content meets our rigorous standards for engagement, instructional value, & accuracy.

The Learning Experience Designer will collaborate closely with multimedia producers, animators, & subject matter experts to craft compelling, standards-aligned stories for the classroom in both literacy & STEM domains. They will also leverage AI tools to support & streamline content creation & revision.

Why you're a great fit:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in content development for a publisher or educational technology company.
  • Strong knowledge of ELA standards & literacy instruction
  • Experience writing or editing educational video scripts or multimedia content is highly preferred
  • Experience designing lessons & assessments for various grade levels (K-8 preferred).
  • Familiarity with educational publishing standards & instructional technology.
  • Excellent writing, editing, & communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects & meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with content authoring tools (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems, & digital curriculum platforms).
  • Comfort with & enthusiasm for using AI in the content development process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in online learning, e-learning development, or digital curriculum design.
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) & differentiated instruction strategies.

Compensation: 

  • Base compensation range: $62,000 - $70,000 per year. 
  • Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options & benefits.
