The role:
We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee technical accounting transactions & related projects, as well as ensure that high risk accounts are properly accounted for. This position will require technical accounting research & accounting documentation while actively maintaining & updating Newselas accounting policies. The position will also be responsible for the implementation of new & modified accounting guidance while working with appropriate teams to ensure proper adoption. Your work will help enable quality reporting & accounting operations that support the growth of our business. Ultimately, this growth will broaden our products reach & bring engaging, culturally responsive learning content to K-12 teachers & students nationwide.
You will:
- Lead the research & evaluation of transactions, legal contracts, business practices, new & modified accounting guidance, & policies for compliance with accounting & reporting standards
- Interact with external auditors on technical accounting issues & assist in the support of the annual audit
- Prepare and/or update technical accounting memos & process walkthroughs related but not limited to accounting for capitalized software, stock based compensation, & purchase price accounting, providing both technical and/or operational knowledge
- Prepare technical accounting analysis related to new transactions & new or evolving products
- Work closely with our external auditors on technical accounting matters & bring any accounting analysis to closure in a timely manner
- Draft original footnote disclosures during the financial statements preparation
- Respond to technical accounting inquiries from auditors & communicate technical accounting matters & concepts to all levels within the organization
- Assist in the assessment & review of financial controls established over technical accounting areas
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field; CPA, preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience with public accounting experience
- Well-versed in technical accounting documentation & providing support for financial statement audit
- Skilled in solving problems & making decisions
- Skilled in sharing information with others & facilitating the open exchange of ideas & information
Base compensation: $120,000 - $145,000. Total compensation for this role also includes benefits. This compensation range may be adjusted based on actual experience.
Please note this is a temp-to-perm assignment starting as soon as possible. The initial assignment is anticipated to end around late July 2024 with the potential to convert to full-time employment.
