Were looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer II to join our Growth R&D engineering team & play a crucial role in driving growth via our product activation strategy.
You will collaborate closely with Product & UX Design & work across the full tech stack to ship everything from large-scale multi-product experiences that span across the Cloud Console to small but impactful Growth experiments to realize incremental improvements to activation business metrics. In addition to customer-facing features, youll partner closely with product & engineering leaders to build & constantly make improvements to our app & control plane platforms & architecture, while ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate has both a deep full stack engineering background & a keen product sense grounded in data-driven methodologies.
What Youll Do:
- Own the development of both large-scale product features & smaller data-driven feature experiments, while working closely with product & engineering partners across multiple organizations.
- Work across our full stack, primarily in Typescript, React, GraphQL, & Go.
- Collaborate with product, UX design, & other technical & non-technical stakeholders.
- Drive & support the team in operational excellence.
- Drive architecture for complex systems by determining current limitations & working with the team & peers across Product Engineering to come up with solutions.
- Ideate, design & implement Growth experiments across the product surface area, while being a champion for data-driven experimentation for other Product Engineering teams.
What Youll Add to DigitalOcean:
- Bachelor and/or Master Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high growth tech environment building customer-facing products & features as a Fullstack Software Engineer.
- Strong candidates will have 2+ years of experience working in a Growth-oriented team, & have experience designing & implementing data-driven growth experiments in addition to building product features.
- Deep foundational experience of modern full stack development technologies like Javascript/Typescript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, Go, & Python.
- Able to make effective trade-offs in regards to both engineering & product requirements, while balancing short term & long term needs.
- Strong analytical & data interpretation skills, with experience in metrics-driven decision making & A/B testing.
- Experience with distributed systems & how to scale them is nice to have.
- Prior demonstrated experience contributing to systems, platforms & products owned by multiple engineering teams is a bonus.
- Demonstrated design, UX & product sensibilities & an affinity for wearing the customers shoes.

- We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $168,000-$228,000 based on market data, relevant years of experience, & skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company & individual performance. We also provide equity compensation to eligible employees, including equity grants upon hire & the option to participate in our Employee Stock Purchase Program.
