Platform Engineering is a family of teams dedicated to crafting & maintaining tools for all Application & Service Developers at Stitch Fix. We focus on creating low friction tools & practices to maximize developer happiness. We believe happy developers write better code. We practice modern platform practices like Infrastructure-as-Code, Immutable Infrastructure, use of Containers, & leverage AWS as well as many other Cloud SaaS offerings.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced hands-on Platform Architect to play a pivotal role in designing, enhancing, & scaling our Developer, API, & Application platforms. As a member of the Platform Engineering leadership team, you will guide our team of principal & lead engineers to formulate the overall technical strategy for the organization. You will be called upon to de-risk the hardest technical challenges we face, provide architecture designs & guidance for our systems & make buy-vs-build decisions to meet business needs & serve our customers efficiently. You will work closely with internal customers across the organization, understanding their needs & translating them into robust architectural solutions. Your expertise will guide the evolution of our platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, & aligned with our business objectives.

• Lead the architectural design & strategy for our Developer Platform, API Platform, & Application Platform.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, understand challenges, & deliver tailored platform solutions.
• Define & implement best practices for platform scalability, reliability, & performance.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies & methodologies to keep our platforms at the cutting edge.
• Act as a mentor & technical leader within the platform engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation & continuous improvement.
• Ensure platform architectures are aligned with the company's strategic goals & compliance standards.
• Oversee the development & implementation of platform roadmaps, balancing short-term priorities with long-term strategic goals.

Were excited about you because you have

• 10+ years of experience in platform architecture, with a strong background in Developer, API, & Application platforms.
• 10+ years of experience in a technical leadership role
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Expert proficiency in Ruby, Python & versatile proficiency in additional languages as necessary, to spearhead the design & development of scalable, resilient, & efficient platforms.
• Deep experience at influencing without positional authority, using great judgment to help teams be highly aligned to the technical strategy
• Proven track record of designing & implementing large-scale, high-availability platform solutions in a cloud environment.
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture patterns, microservices, & containerization technologies.
• Experience collaborating with data scientists & working with ML platforms, demonstrating an understanding of machine learning workflows, model deployment, & integration with platform architecture.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities & a passion for innovation.
• Experience working in a distributed, cross-functional, agile development environment.
