About the Role

As a Quality Control Associate you will take a hands-on approach to maintaining our product quality control processes & monitoring our food safety requirements. Reporting to the FSQA Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers are being provided with safe, great tasting meals. 

This is a 12 month contract.

Notes on schedule: 

  • The working hours for this role are: Tuesday to Saturday from 7:30am - 4:00pm
  • This is a 100% in-person role, meaning you will be required to come to our Distribution Center located at 3520 Laird Road Mississauga, L5L 5Z7

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure compliance of products with regulatory requirements through monitoring of product labeling & CCP compliance
  • Perform quality control inspections on work-in-progress & finished products to ensure products meet Company Standards 
  • Act as primary point of contact for Food Safety issues on the production lines
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams in cases of product non-conformance & implementation of measures to bring non-conforming products back into compliance. 
  • Create tickets when escalations are required for product non-conformances.
  • Maintain accurate reports & records (ex. CCP records, line verification records).
  • Work in compliance with OH&S acts & regulations.
  • Use personal protective & safety equipment & clothing as directed by the employer & report workplace hazards & dangers to the supervisor or employer.
  • Other duties as assigned

At a minimum, you have: 

  • Post-secondary education in Biological, Chemical or Food Sciences diploma
  • 6 Months to 1 year experience working in QC/QA in a food processing, manufacturing or service industry
  • Understanding the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations & GFSI schemes
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts & holiday work, as required
  • Willing & able to push, pull, & lift up to 50lbs
  • Has experience with standing for prolonged periods of time including regular bending, twisting & walking
  • Willing & able to work in a dynamic environment, which can include warm/humid or cold temperatures 
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal & written
  • Familiar with MS Office, Google Apps & comfortable learning new technologies. 
  • Ability to prioritize, remain calm & alert while multitasking in a fast-paced & deadline oriented environment. 
  • Ability to work independently & within a team environment, in addition to having strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Level 1 First Aid is considered an asset.

Its no surprise that as a food company, we use many ingredients that may be considered common allergens (i.e. peanuts, tree nuts, milk, etc.).
