What We Do

Solutions Architects (SA) are technical & business experts who partner with customers to help them design solutions to location problems from live asset tracking, to data visualization & in-car navigation. 

SAs turn their expertise & intuition from working with customers on solution reviews into repeatable solutions.  SAs drive solution adoption by customers using leveraged techniques such as webinars, white-papers, conference talks, & Solution Integrator (SI) partner training.

Each SA has an area of technical expertise - mobile, cloud, or web.  For this role, were looking for a Solutions Architect with expertise in mobile development (Android or iOS). The Principal SA will work with our largest logistics, automotive, & consumer application customers to architect simple solutions to complex location problems.  Your work as an SA results in increased customer value, solution adoption, & Mapbox product capabilities. 

SAs are great problem solvers that love working with customers to solve their technical challenges.  Successful candidates typically have software engineering, product management, solutions engineering, or technical consulting experience prior to this role.

What You'll Do

As a Solutions Architect (SA), youll partner with our largest customers to help them build simple, efficient, & scalable location solutions using Mapbox. Youll combine your expertise from working with customers on specific problems into repeatable blueprints with a website, configuration guidance, & reference code implementation on Github that you publish on mapbox.com.  

• Apply Mapbox & other cloud, web, & mobile technologies to solve customer challenges.
• Deliver high quality, engaging technical presentations & solutions to senior decision makers & senior engineers.
• Publish & own adoption of repeatable solution templates with reference code on mapbox.com
• Increase Mapbox business opportunities by defining & building technical content including solution architectures, white papers, & quick start guides to show customers how to implement specific use cases for new technologies.
• Provide structured feedback & advocate for important features & use cases to Mapbox product & engineering teams.
• Mentor & lead junior members of the team

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

• 5+ years experience in software engineering, technical consulting, solutions architecture, or product management. 
• 3+ years of experience working or building with one or more mobile programming platforms - Java, Kotlin, Objective-C, or Swift.
• Demonstrated experience using other software platforms for full-stack development, such as Javascript, Java, or Python.
• Demonstrated experience solving large, complex customer problems in a consultative fashion.
• A strong communicator, both written & verbal, who is comfortable explaining complex concepts & architectures to audiences from developers to senior decision makers.
• A strategic & creative problem-solver that can both white board solutions, & champion strategies with CTOs & other senior stakeholders.
• Relentless focus on customer experience & solution quality, simplicity, & efficiency.
• Desire to explore, learn & teach new languages, skills, techniques, & platforms
• Willing to travel 25% traveling time for customer meetings & events
