Updater is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design & develop high-quality, scalable solutions while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, & technical excellence. This role requires a proven track record of delivering robust software in a fast-paced environment, alongside exceptional problem-solving skills & a passion for continuous improvement. You will own end-to-end development of key features & play a critical role in shaping our products & technical practices.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Software Development

  • Architect, design, & implement new product features using modern coding standards & best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, & optimize existing systems for maximum performance & reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product, Design, & QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in regular stand-ups, sprint planning, & retrospectives to ensure alignment & timely delivery.

Code Quality & Technical Leadership

  • Write clean, maintainable, & testable code, promoting high engineering standards.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews & offer constructive feedback to peers.

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Provide guidance & coaching to junior & mid-level engineers.
  • Lead by example, adopting best practices, exploring new technologies, & fostering team cohesion.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Research & propose emerging tools, frameworks, & methodologies to enhance workflow & performance.
  • Drive improvements in the software development lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, & optimization.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create & maintain technical documentation for system designs & features.
  • Champion knowledge-sharing across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript) & deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, & cloud-based architectures. 
  • Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum processes & CI/CD pipelines.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for tackling complex technical challenges under tight deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; comfortable working in diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn & pivot to new technologies, tools, & best practices.

Compensation
This posting is anticipated to remain open until May 21, 2025. The new hire salary range for this position is $104,000-185,000 annually. Factors which may affect the starting pay within this range include skills, experience, & other qualifications aligned with Updater's internal leveling guidelines.
