About the Role:  

The Customer Platform team is making Planet data accessible & actionable to Planets customers. As a Director of Customer Experience, you are responsible for understanding customer needs & pain points & leveraging these insights to build the strategy for the Customer Experience team. You will be primarily responsible for developing & maturing the customer journey from the discovery of new imagery & data products that we have, to delivery of these products,  to  leveraging tools built to extract insights from this data on Planets platform.  Furthermore, youll develop tools that will allow customers to extract insights from the raw data theyll have access to. Youll manage a team of PMs responsible for Planets APIs, Integrations, Developer Relations, & for Planets customer-facing web application, Explorer. This role is critical for providing developers & analysts across industry verticals access to the worlds most extensive collection of Earth Observation imagery & data. What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of team management experience, preferably Product Management teams
  • 8+ years of Product Management experience
  • End-to-end Product thinker
  • Demonstrated ability to lead & mentor Product teams, craft product strategies, & marshal company resources against shared objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct Customer-focused problem solving through user research, driving for results, & clear communication of new capabilities. 
  • Ability to coordinate people & technical resources across multiple areas of the company
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, & creative thinking skills
  • The ability to make decisions that align with Planets technical & strategic roadmap as well as Planets core values

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Extensive knowledge of API product management, B2B/Enterprise products, SaaS, & web application based products strongly preferred
  • Strong intuitive grasp on User Administration, Access & Quota/Usage paradigms
  • Technical fluency; ability to understand & discuss architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs & new opportunities with technical team members
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, Google
  • Familiarity with geospatial or mapping technologies

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $156,600 - $243,900. This role is eligible for equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, & other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
