Who We Are

The Farmers Dog was created to radically improve the $90 billion global pet food industry starting with a subscription service that sends freshly-made food directly to customers doors. Long term, our aim is to simplify every part of pet care, bettering the lives of the animals who make our lives better. We recently raised our Series C, bringing our total funding to over $100M. We're backed by the early investors of Warby Parker, Dollar Shave Club, Sweetgreen, & Glossier, & are aiming to build a company as healthy as the dogs we feed.

Where You'll Come In

When its easier than ever for brands to talk about themselves & pay for impressions & attention, what others say & write about you is increasingly critical for breaking through & authentically changing hearts, minds, & behavior. This is especially true in industries & categories where the status quo is entrenched & a progressive shift in thinking is required to inspire change. The Farmers Dog is looking for a Director of Communications to craft & execute a holistic & dynamic earned media & communications strategy that will optimally position the company & our founders across key audiences & partners, & serve as a catalyst for continued growth in category awareness, brand love, & business growth.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Refine & own the companys overall PR & earned media strategy; including clearly defined objectives, audiences, & measures of success
  • Execute that strategy by proactively unearthing & crafting story angles & pitching them to relevant media outlets on an ongoing basis
  • Nurture relationships with the media & the press, keeping The Farmers Dog top-of-mind
  • Work with our co-founders on media training & individual press/thought leadership strategies
  • Suggest impactful ideas for activations, campaigns, & brand behaviors that could support company objectives while also generating earned media
  • Proactively develop cross-functional communication frameworks, processes, & guides for a range of predictable & unexpected scenarios
  • Stay abreast of internal developments & external/cultural moments & trends to identify earned media opportunities
  • Select & manage external agency partner(s) as needed

  • You strategize & connect with integrity, never misleading audiences, creating news without substance, or disclosing sensitive/confidential information
  • You can collaborate with diverse teams & individuals & translate their unique needs & goals into brand-aligned communications opportunities
  • You have a strong network of existing media & press relationships, & the ability to establish & nurture new ones
  • You are comfortable using & proactively asking for data to advise decisions
