The Verge is seeking an ambitious Product Manager to lead the launch & growth of new features & products aligned with editorial & business goals. In this role, you'll report directly to the Senior Creative Director, & work closely with other product managers across the broader Vox Media organization.
You'll be responsible for developing & maintaining a strategic roadmap, guiding the development team to successfully deliver each project. You will collaborate extensively with stakeholders from editorial, design, & engineering teams, playing an active & hands-on role in identifying areas for improvement, planning the marketing of new products, as well as creating clear, detailed, user-friendly product documentation. Your efforts will ensure products are intuitive, visually appealing, timely, & effective.

WHAT YOULL DO
The product manager will lead the development of The Verges frontend website, driving initiatives that directly support our annual goals. Theyll champion our vision for Quick Posts, enhance the homepage experience for our loyal readership, support the growth of our subscription product, collaborate with talented Verge staffers to launch new email newsletters, & help prioritize improvements to our CMS & editorial tools.
- Partner with the Senior Creative Director to define & evolve the product vision, strategy, & roadmap, ensuring alignment with The Verges mission & reader needs.
- Collaborate with partners across engineering, analytics, design, editorial, & project management teams at every stage of the product lifecycle, including research, ideation, launch, maintenance, & iteration.
- Work closely with the user research team to conduct user research & analyze market trends & competitive insights to inform feature development & prioritization.
- Turn editorial & business goals into actionable product requirements by maintaining a prioritized backlog, writing detailed tickets, & managing incoming bugs & user feedback.
- Track key performance indicators, gather qualitative & quantitative feedback, & use insights to optimize product performance & user experience.
- Actively contribute to team rituals (stand-ups, sprint planning, retros) while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, & purpose-driven team culture.
WHO YOU ARE
The ideal candidate is passionate about tech journalism. You thrive in fast paced, collaborative environments & are excited to bridge the gap between editorial, design, & engineering teams. Naturally curious, you leverage both data & qualitative insights to inform decision making. You prioritize user needs & user-centric experiences, & are genuinely excited to build products that empower great journalism & storytelling.
You should have:
- 3+ years of experience leading digital products from early ideas through launch & ongoing improvements, especially in media, data, or analytics-focused roles.
- Clear, thoughtful communication across teams, whether you're writing documentation, chatting in Slack, or presenting on a video call.
- Frontend experience with B2C or consumer-facing products. React/Next.js a plus.
- You know how to manage a backlog, set priorities, & keep projects on track.
- A strong background in using data & audience insights to guide decisions that lead to improved product experiences.
- Able to juggle both quick fixes & longer-term planning, with close attention to detail & a steady focus on moving forward.
- Familiarity with standard product tools like Jira, Figma, AirTable, Google Analytics, Looker.
Nice-to-haves but not required:
- Product management experience with products that help readers discover & engage with journalism, including search, social platforms, & newsletters.
- An understanding of how editorial teams work & the tools they use to produce & share stories.
- Experience with content management systems, email service providers, identity/auth solutions, or affiliate marketing platforms are a plus, but not required.
