Role Description
Dropbox is reimagining how people work through simple, secure, AI-powered solutions. As the Product & Brand Communications Lead on the Global External Communications Team, youll lead a talented team dedicated to telling our product story to the world that we are more than just the cloud storage solution people know us for & championing our brand positioning externally. As a hands-on leader, you will set the strategic direction for our external product storytelling, working closely with cross-functional partners & senior leadership to ensure our messaging is compelling, consistent, & impactful; translating complex features into human-centric stories & repositioning Dropbox from a file storage service to an intelligent platform that helps users organize, collaborate, & act on all their cloud content. Youll also be a steward of our brandhelping ensure all external touch points reinforce our positioning as the thoughtful, reliable, & human choice in a complex digital world.
Responsibilities
- Lead external communications strategies for product announcements, launches, & updatespartnering closely with Product, Product Marketing, & Brand teams to ensure consistency across our external channels
- Champion Dropboxs brand positioning & strategic narrative through product storytelling, executive platforms, & media opportunities
- Own the creation of messaging frameworks & press materials that bring Dropbox products to life
- Cultivate relationships with top-tier tech & business media
- Serve as a strategic advisor & coach to product & executive spokespeople
- Lead & inspire a small but high-performing teamsetting clear goals, providing mentorship, & creating a supportive environment that encourages creative, strategic work
- Measure & report on communication impact, adjusting approach based on insights & market trends
Requirements
- 812+ years in communications, with strong experience in product PR & brand storytellingpreferably in tech, SaaS, or productivity tools
- Proactive, solutions-oriented self-starter who thrives on solving problems, taking initiative, & can independently drive strategy & execution forward without needing perfect conditions
- Proven ability to own & scale strategic narratives across multiple audiences & channels, guiding messaging strategy from concept to launch
- Strong media relationships, with a track record of securing high-impact coverage
- A natural cross-functional collaborator whos equally comfortable with PMs, designers, executives, & creatives as well as coordinating with regional communications teams
- A thoughtful & empowering leader who brings out the best in othersable to guide & motivate a team while fostering a culture of excellence, trust, & collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both in-house & agency communications roles, providing a mix of strategic vision & executional agility
- Background in storytelling around AI, productivity, or workflow tools, particularly in competitive or fast-evolving categories
- Experience working in a brand-led company, where storytelling is tightly integrated with brand identity & design
- Proficiency in using media & content performance analytics (e.g., coverage impact, share of voice, message pull-through) to guide comms strategy
