Lyft is looking for a motivated, creative, & analytical Undergraduate Public Policy Intern, with a focus on Data Visualization, to work with the Public Engagement Team on data visualization projects for Summer 2020. If you have extraordinary attention to detail, are a self starter, express yourself through visuals, are an Excel whiz, & love to learn about emerging public policy issues in a fast-paced environment, & if the thought of helping Lyft continue to bring the benefits of our platform to communities around the country sounds exciting to you, we would love to meet you!


  • Analyze complex sets of political & market data to derive conclusions about our impact in communities across the country
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Director of Community Affairs to build driver, passenger, & third-party group assets (e.g. infographics, graphs, charts) that tell the story of our policy work in visually compelling ways
  • Interact with a series of policy campaigns & synthesize survey data for executive consumption


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation in 2021
  • Must be returning to school after the internship
  • Strong grasp of data visualization theory & practice
  • Proficiency with data visualization & design tools, such as Google Charts, Tableau, Visme, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Great story-telling skills, with experience building Powerpoints / Google slide decks that incorporate strong visuals as part of a campaign
  • Excellent research, analytical, & problem-solving skills
  • Past experience translating data & ideas into visuals, charts, & graphics
  • Experience with reviewing & synthesizing data into easily-grasped insights & themes
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Google Suite, Powerpoint / Google Slides, Adobe design
  • Experience working independently but also collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented, & goal-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Previous experience in consulting, technology, transportation, and/or government a plus
  • Candidate should be passionate about Lyft & the various public policy issues associated with our industry
  • A portfolio, with examples of past data visualization work, is required as part of your application
  • Bonus Points: Previous experience as an organizer or working for a political or issue advocacy campaign
  • Bonus Points: Strong visual or arts background
