About the role
The Associate, Risk / Compliance ensures that Oscar complies with industry specifications, standards, regulations, & laws. They review operational practices, create & enforce procedures, & perform regulatory reviews. You will ensure & enforce compliance where required throughout the facility to ensure complete compliance in all areas of the business.
You will report to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Compliance.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office (in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Dr), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Pay Transparency:
The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, & Washington is: $98,400 - $129,150 per year.The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $88,560 - $116,235 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program & annual performance bonuses.
Responsibilities
- Partner with all relevant departments to make sure current compliance levels.
- Provide education to team members regarding regulatory compliance.
- Ensure that all team members are aware of the procedures to be followed to follow compliance requirements.
- Develop & implement compliance improvement plans where required.
- Delegate tasks to other departments to bring compliance levels up.
- Develop reports to the governing body.
- Assist Regulatory Authorities with completing site visits & external audits.
- Prepare for, & conduct audits alongside external authorities.
- Conduct regular audits in all required areas to check compliance levels.
- Compliance with all applicable laws & regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 1+ year experience in health plan compliance
- 2+ years experience with State DOI health insurance rules & regulations, CMS ACA rules & requirements, CMS requirements
- 2+ years experience managing high-volume & complicated projects, keeping track of details, & staging work to complete projects on time
Bonus Points
- CHC, CCEC, or similar
- Fluency with State DOI audit and/or reporting obligations
- State DOI audit management experience
- Experience in a start-up and/or health tech environment
- Experience in a TPA setting
