About the Role
Manages P&L, strategy & vision for a moderately-to-highly complex category, establishing goals, managing budgets, setting priorities & implementing savings opportunities. Ensures achievement of category financial targets (e.g. GMV & margin) & identifies & executes upon levers to achieve those targets. Supports GM in developing data-driven business plans with tangible execution steps & supporting broader P&L.
Manages analysis for category, including themes, assortment & competitive landscape, to stay on the cutting edge of product & eCommerce advancements impacting own category. Continually evolves the category's assortment strategy & logistics experience.
Manages all performance metrics; oversees the creation & maintenance of all item set up to ensure product line is accurately depicted in multiple systems for sales tracking, maximized conversion & optimal customer experience. Monitors product & category performance to identify improvement area & develops plans to drive enhanced results. Demonstrates expertise in multiple systems & sites throughout the category.
Builds & leads a team to execute on business area or category objectives. Coaches team members & provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge & work performance. Has performance & career development conversations. Maintains team motivation & engagement. Mentors Category Specialists. Promotes & supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, & standards of ethics & integrity. Provides supervision & development opportunities for associates. Empowers associates to execute their tasks & make decisions. Ensures business needs are being met.
Builds & maintains relationships with key brands & suppliers to build a complete assortment with compelling value. Negotiates product costs, volume, & ensures proper distribution & pricing across warehouses & distributors. Builds & maintains relationships with key internal cross-functional partners to create optimal end-to-end experience for customer. Develops deep expertise in inventory Management, Planning, & Site Merchandising & leverages cross-functional partners in those areas to drive business needs.
Ensures online presence supports desired shopper/customer experience for products within category across multiple websites, including product presentation, content, customer reviews & enhancements.
- Bachelor's degree in business, retail or related field
- 5+ years experience in business, retail or related field
