The Role:   

Newsela is an education technology company that helps K12 educators drive real learning outcomes by combining engaging, accessible content with integrated assessments & insights. Our suite of products is designed to support teachers in building knowledge, deepening understanding, & sparking curiosity across the curriculum. In 2025, Newsela acquired Generation Genius, a beloved provider of standards-aligned math & science content for elementary & middle school students. As we scale this product as part of the Newsela family, were looking for a Content Marketing Manager who will be solely focused on driving engagement & growth for Generation Genius across its website, blog, email, & other key marketing channels.

Why Youll Love This Role: 

Blog, Social, & SEO Strategy

  • Build & manage editorial calendars aligned with key product updates, education trends, & seasonal campaigns (e.g., back-to-school, STEM week, Earth Day).
  • Lead our blog & SEO efforts to increase organic traffic & position Generation Genius as a go-to resource for STEM education.
  • Research & write high-performing blog content tailored to educators
  • Continuously optimize & refresh existing blog content to reflect current search trends & performance insights.
  • Develop & execute social media strategy, increasing educator engagement, word-of-mouth, & teacher trial sign-ups.

Teacher Engagement

  • Own & execute the email strategy for engaging teachers with helpful, timely content.
  • Write & edit compelling copy for email campaigns, landing pages, paid media, & product messaging.
  • Collaborate with product & content teams to surface & promote the most relevant resources & features.

Performance Tracking & Optimization

  • Monitor & analyze content performance across channels (traffic, email engagement, conversion, etc.).
  • Use insights to iterate on content strategy & improve outcomes.
  • Partner with marketing operations to ensure content is tagged, tracked, & measured accurately.

Why Well Love You: 

  • 5+ years of experience in content marketing, with a proven track record of growing web traffic & lead generation, ideally within edtech or SaaS
  • Bachelors Degree Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Experience in the education field either in classroom or within edtech is required
  • Proficient with marketing automation platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Pardot, Slate) & CMS tools (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices, keyword research, & backlink strategies.
  • Skilled in data analysis & optimization, with experience using tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar.
  • HTML & CSS experience is a plus.

Base compensation: $83,500 - $96,000. Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options & benefits. This compensation range may be adjusted based on actual experience.
