Hello! Im LJ, Director of Product at Customer.io.

Im looking for a Staff Product Manager to join our Workflows team, enabling companies worldwide to create highly personalized journeys for their customers, & directly impacting millions of people who receive messages from our platform every day. You'll join a team of highly skilled & empowered product managers in a remote & distributed company of over 250 team members across 17 countries.

This role is perfect for you if youre energized by complex problems at scale & undaunted by debates about infrastructure performance, costs, & reliability. You'll stay deeply connected to customers, gathering insights to champion their needs within the team, while partnering with engineering & design to create a workflow experience that balances powerful features with ease of use (check it out!).

What you'll do

  • Lead the Workflows squad in achieving strategic outcomes with solutions that are:
    • Valuable (our customers choose to use)
    • Viable (the solution works within the constraints of the business)
    • Usable (our customers can figure out how to use)
    • Feasible (our engineers have the skills & technology to implement)
  • Develop a deep knowledge of our prospects & customers, industry trends, & the competitive landscape. Use this knowledge to educate, advocate, & influence within the company.
  • Find & nurture ideas from anywhere in the company, expecting many of the best ideas will not be your own.
  • Take accountability for results, even though you're working through others to achieve them.

What we're looking for

  • Ability to commit to at least 3 hrs of working overlap with the Americas (GMT-8 to GMT-5 timezone).
  • Youre an experienced product manager with 7+ years of experience in a software development setting, with a minimum of 1+ years experience in a workflows/platform focused role
  • Leading with a compelling vision, executed in iterative steps that prioritize learning & delivering customer value.
  • An infectious energy when sharing customer stories, used to aligning the team around the customers experience.
  • Genuine curiosity, always asking Why? one more time.
  • Proficient with data including how to source, analyze, & present quantitative & qualitative data.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity & taking ownership of problems even when the next steps & solutions aren't clear.
  • A proactive communicator, & collaborator, who believes in working out loud to share work early & often.
  • An excellent writer who values clarity & brevity while avoiding jargon.

About Customer.io

Our mission at Customer.io is to power automated communication that people like to receive. Today over 5,300 internet businesses use Customer.io to manage, send, & track performance of emails, SMS, push notifications, & in-app messages. Unlike typical marketing platforms, Customer.io helps businesses increase relevance by using behavioral data: what people do or dont do when logged in to a web or mobile app.

We are offering a starting salary of $168,000-$183,000 USD (or equivalent in local currency) depending on experience & subject to market rate adjustment.

Customer.io takes a market-based approach to pay, & pay may vary depending on your location. U.S., & international, locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, & market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone 1: USD $202,000 - USD $220,000

Zone 2: USD $185,000 - USD $201,000

Zone 3: USD $168,0000 - USD $183,000

Zone 4: USD $135,000 - USD $146,000
