The Group Strategy Director provides important strategic leadership & guidance. As the most senior Strategy representative, the group strategy director is responsible for the overall quality of Strategy work on all projects & accounts in the business unit. Group Strategy directors are also expected to perform strategy functions on more complicated & challenging projects. The strategy director must gain an intimate understanding of the client, their competitors & key industry trends. They must also effectively communicate their findings to creative & technical members of their teams. 

Their most important contribution is insights about the clients business, their competitors, & their customers. This multi-disciplinary position requires working knowledge of business analysis, qualitative consumer research, web analytics & information architecture. Candidates must demonstrate in-depth knowledge & experience in at least two of these disciplines & good working knowledge in the balance.


You will:

  • Ensure overall quality of Strategy work on all projects & accounts in all disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the program director & the managing director to ensure that: the business unit has a suitable number of strategists & analysts with appropriate skills, the accounts understand the role of Strategy staff & exploit their skills appropriately & strategy staff are engaged in the right work at the right time
  • Provide support with special projects & initiatives within the Strategy group
  • Provide guidance & insight about Strategy practices to colleagues in departments & business units
  • Ensure through collaboration with team members & other Strategy Directors that core processes & deliverables are effective in delivering strategic guidance.
  • Work with our clients to identify business problems & challenges
  • Become an authority on the clients business sector
  • Define & document requirements through business analysis, qualitative consumer research, & web analytics
  • Recommend, plan, coordinate and/or execute pertinent research, analysis activities:
  • Sector, industry & competitive analyses
  • Competitive benchmarking studies
  • Qualitative, consumer research (ie. usability testing, focus groups, field study)
  • Requirements gathering sessions & stakeholder interviews
  • Multi-Year digital roadmaps
  • POVs & thought leadership pieces
  • Team management & oversight on all strategic & UX work
  • New business pitches
  • Creative Briefs
  • Organic growth projects
  • Synthesize & communicate the results of research to clients & project teams
  • Provide insight & perspective on the clients strategic direction
  • Collaborate with the team on overall strategy development
  • Define measurement strategies to support ongoing strategy development & site or program optimization
  • Demonstrate the value of integrating Strategy services & activities into all client engagements
  • Provide thought leadership to colleagues & projects in a range of subjects that may include
  • Requirements gathering
  • Consumer research & insight
  • Site measurement
  • Marketing & strategic planning

You have:

  • 10+ years in digital user experience strategy within a digital agency or pure play user experience company
  • 10+ Years Experience in Campaign / Comms Planning
  • Leadership experience with larger teams
  • 10+ Years Experience working directly with clients
  • Facilitation Expertise
  • Experience designing Personas, Customer Journeys
  • Has experience driving & winning new business pitches
  • Understands content strategy, marketing & distribution
  • Understands social ecosystem & can design for it
  • Understands how to grow current clients organically
  • Passion for digital & up to date on technology & trends
  • Experience in developing proposals & presentations for clients
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex subject matter, either verbally or in written form
  • Demonstrated ability in the marketing research & sciences areas, to establish & analyze complex research studies
  • Teamwork & collaboration-oriented
