YOUR ROLE:

As a DevOps Lead, your role serves as a key player in Technology solutions for our clients & within the agency. You support your team in facilitating software development/delivery process & operations.  From setting up a continuous integration/delivery environment to speeding up software deployment & release process, to Architecting overall, comprehensive, & efficient infrastructure practices.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of DevOps/DevSecOps Engineers in the implementation of infrastructure, security & tools that are needed for delivery of software applications & services.
  • Collaborate with Platform Leadership in analyzing, executing, & streamlining DevOps practices.
  • Develop strong relationships with our development teams to evaluate projects feasibility, effort & technologies required.
  • Introduce new tech stacks for experimentation while maintaining a controlled delivery process.
  • Interact with our clients technology stakeholders to understand their internal dependencies & push the best solution for their digital eco-system.
  • Research & investigate technology solutions that could help to resolve operational or business challenges & demonstrate their efficiency by putting together proofs of concept & sharing these with the team.
  • Thoroughly research & troubleshoot technical issues. Derive pragmatic, effective solutions, resolve issues & document the resolutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, development, architecture, & operations role.
  • Experience with architecting DevOps solutions for a complex cloud native environment.
  • Hands on implementation of CI/CD using tools such as Jenkins, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy or equivalent.
  • Hands on implementation of Cloud Native environment using AWS, familiarity with GovCloud would be a bonus.
  • Container (Docker) based micro service development environments on Kubernetes, on AWS.
  • Strong experience with services such as AWS RDS, EC2, ECS/EKS, S3, API Gateway, Bastion Hosts, messaging (Kafka), identity & security management (IAM, Cognito, Okta etc.), Configuration & Secret Management (Secrets Manager, Config, SSM, KMS etc.)
  • Experience with networking & CIDR management.
  • Immutable architecture components & manage artifacts using tools such as Artifactory.
  • Health management & monitoring using different tools.
  • Experience setting up VPCs, private/public subnets, security groups, NAT gateway, Transit gateways etc.
  • Experience with administration, set-up, & maintenance of EC2 instances.
  • Experience with declarative configuration management tool(s) like Chef, Salt, Puppet etc.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation etc.
  • Experience with security practices like code static/dynamic scans, encryption, firewalls, DDoS attack prevention etc.
  • Experience w/ SCRUM/Agile methodology.
  • Ability to work collaborate with developers, project managers, QA team to enable them in the development process.
  • Able to thrive independently given direction & objectives. Strong requirements gathering skills.
  • Creative problem solving.
  • Personal drive to meet deadlines & deliverables is a must.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills. Effective at a whiteboard.
  • Effectively lead the team & inspire them to achieve goals through innovation, quality & excellence.
  • Recognizes the value that different perspectives & cultures bring to an organization & seeks to understand those different perspectives & cultures.
  • Contributes to a work culture where differences are valued & supported.
  • Is sensitive to cultural norms, expectations, & ways of communicating.

Hybrid work schedule. Preferably commutable distance to Chicago office location.

RAPP's current hybrid model is designed to enable in-person connections & collaboration that is core to our culture, while also supporting flexibility for all employees. As such, we have the option to work from home two days per week, if we'd like.

This range is specific to Chicago & multiple factors are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: skill set, experience & training, certifications; etc. This is an exempt position.
