The AI SEO Strategist will be responsible for driving Cloudways organic search performance by combining SEO expertise with cutting-edge AI techniques. This role involves analyzing search data & user trends, identifying opportunities, & then using generative AI tools to execute optimizations at scale. The strategist will create & refine prompts to get the best SEO insights from AI (e.g., content suggestions, entity extractions), ensure our content is optimized for inclusion in AI-generated answers (SGE, Bing Chat, etc.), & lead experiments to improve rankings & visibility. They will work cross-functionally with the content team to implement recommendations & with the web development team to technically implement SEO changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced keyword & topic research using AI tools (e.g. use ChatGPT to generate long-tail keyword variations & questions, then verify search volume via SEMrush) uncover content opportunities that traditional SEO tools might miss.
- Optimize content for AI visibility: Develop strategies for getting Cloudways content featured in AI answer boxes & as cited sources. For example, implement structured data & concise answer snippets in our pages to increase chances of being picked up by Googles AI summaries.
- Continuously refine a set of SEO prompts & AI workflows for the team e.g., a prompt for GPT that analyzes a competitors page & lists its weaknesses, or a workflow that uses an AI vision API to examine our infographic text for SEO relevance.
- Conduct competitor analysis with AI: monitor competitors content & SEO strategy by using AI to summarize their new content, then advise on counter-strategies.
- Track & report on performance improvements: use analytics to measure impact of AI-driven SEO changes (e.g., if we mass-optimized title tags with AI assistance, how did CTR change?). Present findings to the team & adjust strategy accordingly.
- Stay up-to-date with search engine developments, especially around AI. Act as our internal expert on things like Googles Multitask Unified Model (MUM) or upcoming AI features in search, & adjust tactics proactively.
Tools Expertise Needed:
- SEO AI Platforms: Knowledge of tools like Alli AI or Diib (AI-powered SEO suites) to automate on-page suggestions, & SurferSEO for NLP content optimization.
- Prompt Engineering: Experience with OpenAIs API or tools like PromptPerfect to fine-tune & test prompts for reliable SEO outputs. For instance, using the API to run bulk analyses (like: input 50 URLs, get AI to identify content gaps for each).
- Analytics & Scripts: Familiarity with Python or R for SEO (the candidate might use libraries like SEOanalyzer or custom scripts augmented by AI to process data faster).
- SERP Monitoring: Tools like SEOTesting.com or Google Search Console Insights (with an AI layer) to monitor how our pages appear in both normal & AI-driven search results.
Ideal Candidate Traits:
- SEO Expertise: 3-5+ years in SEO with proven results (they should be extremely comfortable with technical & on-page SEO fundamentals).
- Analytical & Curious: Loves digging into data & ask why, complemented by curiosity about new technology. They likely have already been experimenting with AI in their workflows (perhaps using GPT for meta tags or having built a small AI script for SEO tasks).
- Innovative Mindset: Should be a visionary in their own right, someone who gets excited about the changes in search & wants to pioneer new tactics (e.g., they read SEO blogs/tweets by folks like Rand Fishkin, Lily Ray, etc., & are eager to implement cutting-edge ideas).
- Technical Aptitude: Not necessarily a coder, but able to understand & even write basic scripts; comfortable learning how to use APIs. Experience with tools like Google Colab or Jupyter notebooks for SEO is a plus.
- Communication: The person must evangelize their insights to the team, explaining the why behind AI-recommended changes in an understandable way. Theyll need to articulate findings & strategy shifts clearly in meetings or reports.
